ROLL CALL _ Councilmen present;AlYen, Farrell ,McCarger,Riemerts,Batchelor, Van Bebber and Mayor Sales. REPORTS, -OF CITY OFFICERS: The monthly rEport'so.f the City Wharfinger, the Auditor, the Treasurer and the Poundman were read and filed. The Auditor reported the apportionment of X397.83 from the unapportoried fund. The City Engineer reported that he had ordered the lights for the two bridges. Filed. The City Attorney reported in re Douglas Street litigation. REPORTS. .OF STARDING COI4'IlbIITTE ES : . Finance Cori, i.tt.e,e.'rendered its report.of.:numerous claims against the City and Councilman Allen introduced and Councilman Van Be`b,ber seconded, the following resolution: Resolution 7 #2923 C.S.;, BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Auditor be and he is hereby directed to dray warrants against the various City Funds - in payment of claims -- allowed and approved by the :Finance Committee. Adopted by 7 affirmative votes. The Buildings & Grounds Committee reported having,had a new floor laid in the fire station also that the trees have been planted at the sewer farm. Filed. The 'Street Committee - re,ported that a sidewalk may be secured for Baker St. hence nothing had been done toward procuring safety signs. The Committee which visited Oakland on an inspection tour of the Rock Crushers reported a very interesting trip and asked that a letter of thanks be sent to the firm of Bates & Borland for the courtesies which they extended.the committee. PETITIONS '& COMMUNICATIONS Communication from W.- T. S.pridgen, resigning as a member of the Park Commission, read and filed. Petiti.on from residents in the vicinity of Kenilworth Park objecting to the low and dangerous flying of the'airplanes 'over and around the Park, signed by 27 names, read and Filed. .Letter from M. Goldman resigning as a member of the City Planning Dommi,ssion-, read and filed,. INTRODUCT,104 OF'' ORDINAN;CES Ordinance No. C.S'. introduced by Councilman 11cCargar, seconded by,Councilman Van Bebber licensing slot. machines, etc.approved by the City Attorney and ordered published. 1 Ordinance No. 250 C.S. introduce.d..by Councilman Batchelor, seconded by Councilman McCargar, amending Ordinance No. 22 C..S. regulat- ing the travel and traffic upon the streets of the City of Petaluma, approved by the City Attorney and ordered phblished. Ordinance No. 2.51 C..S.introduced by councilman Farrell, seconded by Councilman Van -Bebber, prohibiting the keeping or maintaining of hives or swarms of bees within the City of Petaluma, approved by the City Attorney and ordered posted. H NEW BUSINESS: It was regularly moved and seconded that the Scout 111aster be granted the use of some railings stored in the City Hall ) for .'their new office on Main St,. : 0AV 4 5`3 Counci-],man Mc.CQ.arger- ,brought..up the subject of the auto stages using the streets as a station and after a lengthy discussion Chief of Police '�,l was directed to se,e that- the stage drivers observe the traffic laws. Councilman McCarger also asked that the fire department be given the use ,.of the room on- the third= floor of the City hall as a dormitory, the. school officials having already agreed to move their to the . back of the building. Commissioner Fredericks reported on G.St. opening stating that they commissioners have secured from Mr Evans a price of x¢1550 for the str-'p of land needed for a street and the property >owner's of the district have agreed to pay therefor. The expenses of the board for services total §25..00 and the following resolution was thereupon adopted by seven affirmative votes: Resolution #2924 C.S. introduced by Councilman Riewerts, Seconded by Councilman Allen, BE IT RESOLVED THAT the compensation of- the commissioners on, the Street opening of G Street.be and the same is,hereby fixed at the sum of X2!5.00 and their reasonable expenses to*be p aid From the fund to be collected from the property owners by voluntary agreement. :Resolution X2926 C.S'. in:trodu6ed.by Councilman. Batchelor, seconded by Councilman McCargar, appointing Mrs. Stuart ;Peoples a member of the-'City Planning Commission adopted Eby 7 affirmative 'votes. Resoluti #29 C.S. introduced by Councilman Farre 1, seconded by Councilman Van Bebber, accepting the resignation of M. Goldman as a member of the City Planning Commission, adopted by 7 affirmative votes. I,rt was regularly moved and seconded that the resignation of 1 . 1 % T. Sprdgen be accepted. The matter of a sewer on Sixth St. between B'& C Sts., was discussed at length and referred to the City Engineer and Street Committee for investigation. Attorney Howell gave an op'inio'n as to traffic laws under the 1923 statute.;;and the matter of signs defining residence districts, etc. was referred to the street committee with power to act. Mr. Phoelmann addressed the Council asking that E St. from 3 to 5th .St. be sprinkled owing to the great amount of dust. Referred to the Street Superintendent and Street Committee. The E6rthwestern Pac. Ry. Co.asked permission to excavate the new concrete roadway on D St.. in order to'take care of the overflow from 'their water tank. The Council decided that the sewer should be laid under the spur track instead of tearing up the road, or else allow the water to run in the gutter for the.pre,sent. ,„ ADJQURD K\Ti On motion re;gularly.made and carried the ioieeting adjourned.
