ROLL CALL Counoilmen present; Allen, Batchelor, Farrell, kiewerts, Van Bebber and Mayor Sales. READING -0F THE -JOURNAL, The minutes of'the last regular meeting of June 2nd °irrere read and ..approved as recorded. REPORTS OF CITY . OFF.ICERS :- •The Clerk reported " ' filing of Affidavits of Publication of- Ordinance Yr253; Notice to Bidders re Official Advertising and Notice of Sale.g.f Fire Improvement Bonds. J The City Engineer presented estimate�of cost of proposed sewer on "G" Street together with plans for same; also a map for the proposed Extension of Sixth Street. Filed. The City Engineer presented estimates and profiles in re improvement of Edith Street, I,ladison Street and Vallejo Street. Action,was deferred until. the next regular meeting. The City Engineer also reported that 1 Baker had .asked for further time in' the matter of constructing a sewer in the new Baker Traci'; . No action. Resolution +2951 C. The Cle -k was directed to notify the Fire, Park and Library Boards to file their annual reports. j Resolution #2953 C.S.. introduced by Councilman Farrell, seconded by Cowauf — loran Batchelor as follows "BE IT RESOLVED THAT 1 , 4 1 lET'.EAS , the clay of a fellow Councilman has closed,- prematurely, perchance, and as if by a sudden eclipse our .City is cast into gloom. Petaluma has lost a faithful servant, a determined and efficient guiding influence, an honest and a kindly man, and suddenly, as if by a single stroke of the scythe of Time, our colleague, H. S. _McCargar, is cut down. His -chair at our Cou table is vacant. He has - responded to the call or a higher Council. For eleven years our honored dead has given unsparingly of his time and energy in behalf of the well - being of our City, devoted to its cause, and Firm in the determination for honesty and fair- dealing in all of its affairs. TIHEREPORE, BE-IT RESOLVED; That in this hour of grief and sorrow the heartfelt sympathy of the Council, on its behalf and on behalf of - -the City of Petaluma, be extended to the bereaved family;�that this resolution be spread upon the minutes of this meeting, and a copy thereof sent to the family of the deceased; and that when this Council adjourns to -night it-do so out of respect, and in honor of the memory of H. S. McCargar. " adopted by 6 affirmative votes. Resolution 429 54 C.S. introduced by Councilman Batchelor,-seconded by Councilman Van Bebber, appointing J. Edgar Allen Vice President of the City Council of the City of Petaluma to fill the vacancy caused by the death of H. S. KcCargar, adopted by 5 affirmative votes. Resolution #2955 C introduced by Councilman Farrell, seconded by Councilman Van Bebber, appointing J..H. Button City Counailman,.adopted by 6 affirmative votes. The Buildings and Grounds Committee reported on the Electric Sign for the Hotel Petaluma; stating that they had granted Idr. Barker's re- .quest for permission to install the sign. After considerable discussion the Buildings and Grounds Committee and the .City Attorney were directed to amend the ordinance governing electric signs.
