INTRQDUQTIQN - :OF ORDINANCES Ordinance °X6 `255 Charter Series, introduced by Councilman Farrell, seconded by Councilman Batchelor, amending Ordinance Igo. 106, and providing for a fee 'for the issuance of a permit for the construction of buildings was read by the Clerk and ordered published. Ordinance Vo. 256 Charter Series, introduced by Councilman Farrell, seconded by Councilman Van Bebber, amending :Section 45 of Ordinance.No.239 C.S. was read by the Clerk and ordered published. ADOPSION . OF O O:rdiFriance T'ot., : 254 Charter .Series, introduced by Councilman Batchelor seconded. `by Councilman Allen, amending .Ordinance, 1o. 36 Charter Series., providing for the construction of electric signs across streets under cer- tain conditions by and with the consent of the public building and grounds committee, came�up regularly for adoption and was defeated by the following vote: Ayes,.Councilmen Batchelor, Farrell and Van Bebber; Noes, Councilmen Allen, Button and Mayor bales; Absent Councilman Riewerts. The Mayor appointed a committee composed of Councilmen Button and Farrell t meet with the City Attorney for the purpose of drafting'a new ordinance' governing electric signs. NEW BUS INESS Bids re -Fire Engine. The Clerk reported., received one bid from the American La France Fire Engine Co..and proceeded to open and read said bid,whereupon Re- solution .12972 G.S. introduced by Councilman I'arrell; seconded by Councilman Van Bebber, accept® ing the bid of the American La Zrance Fire Engine Company and directing the Auditor to draw a warrant in the sum of §13,000. payable to said company, adopted by 6 affirmative votes, 1 absentee. Bids - Remodeling of basement of .City Hall for fire station. The Clerk reported that no bids had 'been received for the remodeling of the City Hall whereupon said Clerk was directed to re- advertise for bids to be returnable on Monday, July 21st., 1924. Resolution #2973 C..S. introduced by Councilman Farrell, seconded by Councilman Van Bebber, grant- ing the applications of Marion Goodrich and,Emma 1'. Kelley for soft drink - licenses, adopted by 6 affirmative votes, 1 absentee. Resolution #2974 C. S. introduced by Councilman Batchelor, seconded by Councilman Allen, rescind- .ing, .res.oaution #2959. , adopted by. 6 affirmative votes, 1 absentee. Resolution of Intent:i;on ;,2975 '%]%S.,. introduced by Councilman Button, seconded by Councilman .Allen, ordering the improvement of Edith Street from the northeasterly line of Madison Street to the southwesterly line of Washington Street, adopted by 6 affirmative votes, 1 absentee. Resolution ;2976 C.S. introduced.by Councilman Farrell, seconded by Councilman Van Beb.ber, increasing the salary of the traffic officer of the City of Petaluma by the sum of §25.,00 per month, adopted by 6 affirmative votes, 1 absentee. Resolution #2977 C..S. introduced by Councilman Allen,•seeonded by Councilman 3atche.lor, pro - viding for the issuance o -f improvement bonds covering unpaid assessments on 5th Street, adopted by 6 affirmative votes, 1 absentee. The-matter of the improvement of 14adison and Vallejo . Streets was referred to the Street Committee for investigation and report. Fire Chief Adams addressed the Council stating that a hydrant had „ been placed on F and Sunnyslope Avenue, outside of the City Limits, by the water company without authority and it was regularly moved and seconded that the said water company be instructed to return the hydrant to the City .or pay for the cost of same.. The matter ­of the fire department answering calla outside of the city limits was also discussed and it•was the sense of the Council that it be. left to the Fire Chief's discretiom.o Chief Adams reported -that the alley -in back of the American Hotel was badly in need of repair. Referred to the Street. 'Committee. It was regularly moved and seconded - that the property owners be extended 90 days time for the completion of the sidewalk work.. The C1 Engineer submitted two bids for the lighting of the Street Bridge. Filed. AD.JOU1 N T On motion regularly made. and carried the meeting adjourned in respect to the,, memory Of Calvin.
