READING: OF-THE 'JOURNAL: `The minu."ee of the- last regular meeting of July 7th were read and I as recorddd. REPORTS- OF CITY OFFICERS • The Clerk reported the filing of affidavit of publication for Ordinances Nos. 255 and 25.6, Resolution of Intention 2975 and Notice to Bidders re remodeling of-City Hall. • The Annual report of the Library Trustees read, and filed. The City Engineer reported that he had decided to personally install the lights for the D St reet Bridge, thereby saving considerable in the cost,. filed The City Engineer also reported. that -the property owners will not agree to the paving of the alley in back of the nevv hotel at thi.s time. REPORTS OY STANDING 0,019diTTEES - '.The Finance C itte6 rendered its report of -numerous claims against the City and Councilman Allen introduced: and Councilman Button seconded the following resolution, to -wit: Resolution #2978 C.S. BE IT 1SOLVED THAT the Auditor be and she is. hereby directed to draw warrants against the various City Funds in payment of claims allowed acid approved by the Finance Committee. Adopted by 7 affirmative votes. Councilman Allen.of the Street Committee reported that the water company would lay an 8 inch main down the American Alley as soon as the dry season is over. Filed. The Street 'Committee reported in re Madison and Vallejo Streets, recommending that the improvement of these streets be abandoned for the present, as no agreement could be reached with the property owners. Recommendation accepted. PETITIONS AND COM1VIUNICATIONS : Applications for soft drink licenses from S. Walter Peck and J. Leeair read and filed. Later brought up under the head of new business and Re 7P2979 C.S. introduced by Councilman Alle seconded by Councilman Batchelor, grant - ing said appli cations, adopted by 7 affirmative votes. Ordinance No. 258 'C.S. introduced by Councilman Farrell, re poultry establishments was read and after considerable discussion referred back for re- drafting. ADOPTION OF ORDINANCES Ordinance °No. 255 C.S. providing for a fee for the issuance of building permits came up regularly and was adopted by the following vote; Ayes, Alle Batchelor, Button, Farrell, - Riewerts, Van Bebber and Mayor Sale's. S . came up regularly and was adopted by the - following vote: Ages, Councilman Allen, Batchelor, Button, Farrell, Riewerts, Van Bebber and Mayor Sales. Noes none; Absent none. NEW BUSINESS.: Re - bids 'for remodeling Ci.t.y Hall. The Clerk reported having received one bid and proceeded to open and read said bid from the Vogensen Construction Company and it was regularly moved and seconded that the said bid be taken under. advisement. _ Resolution ;;29.80 C.S. . introduced by Councilman Riewerts, seconded by Councilman Button, trans - farring the sum of §649.10 from the Rock Crusher Yund to the-Street Fund, adopted by 7 affirmative votes. Resolution +2981 C.:5. introduced by Councilman Button,. seconded by Councilman Riewerts, trans - ferring the, ,sum of §46.80 from the Rock Crusher Fund to the Park Fund, adopted by 7 affirmative votes.; Resolution #2.982 C;.S -o introduced by Councilman Van Bebbe.r, seconded by Councilman Batchelor, approving and adopting the specifications for one ladder truck and one hose wagon as prepared by the Board of Fire Commissioners, adopted by the following vote; Ades; Councilman Allen, Batchelor, Farrell and Button; Noes; Riewerts, Van Bebber and Mayor Sales. Owing to the fact. that three members of the Council voted against the above re olut-ion the advertising for bids was deferred until a- later date. r !fir. H. C..Adsit addressed the Council regarding a sewer on Liberty Street, stating that there is no sewer on said street between WashEngton and Western Avenue. 1jhe matter was, .referred to the Engineer for investigation and recommendation.. The matter of repairing, the roof of the s_ ho.e factory was referred to the building and grounds committee with full power to act. Liability and property damage insurance for the automobiles belonging to -the. City yeas referred to. the Street Department. The matter of extending the sewer on G St ee was referred to the City.
