Adjourned meeting 'of the Council of the City. of Petaluma called to
order by Mayor Sales.

Mayor Sales.
Absent; Councilman Batchelor.

Opinion , of Ci"t`y Attorney Howell as to whether or not the Council may
provide for,the use of-the sum of 03000 acquired by the City by the recent
-Fire Department Bond Election, read and failed.
NEW BUSINESS:
Edith street - This being the time for the hearing of protests against
the improvement of Edith Street and none appearing,

Ordering work on Edith btreet and directing the Clerk to post notice, to-
gether with plans and specifications and to publish notice to bidders for
improvement of said street, was introduced by Councilman Allen, seconded
by Councilman Riewerts, and adopted by 6 affirmative votes, 1 absentee.
The sanitary conditions of the Poultry Stations in Petaluma were dis-
cussed at - length, addresses being made by Mr. Stewart, Mr. Knight, Mr.
Cella and other prominent poultry men. The Mayor appointed a committee
consisting of Councilmen Button, Eiewerts and Allen, together with the
City Attorney to make an investigation as to the better conditions of
the Poultry Stations and to draft an ordinance governing said conditions,
if one is needed.
Resolution #2984 C.;S.E,:
introduced by Councilman Button, seconded by Councilman niewerts, direct -
ing'the Clerk to advertise for bids furnishing the City of Petaluma
with one hose wagon and one ladder truck, said bids to be returnable.
August lst, was adopted by 5 affirmative votes, one no and one absentee.
On motion by Councilman Farrell, seconded by Councilman Allen, the
remodeling of t he City Hall was referred to the Buildings and Grounds
Committee to file recommendations.
The matter of a suitable burying ground for dogs,at the Sewer Farm was
referred to the Buildings and Grounds Committee and the Poundman.
Councilman Riewerts reported that the prices quoted him for painting the
roof of the shoe factory were from �400.to 000.. which he thought too
high. referred to the Building and Grounds Co :iimittee for further in
vestigation.
Fire Commissioner ldewburgh called the attention of the Council to the
fact that the new building permit fee ordinance conflicts with the old
fire ordinance relative to the issuing of permits for buildings within
the fire limits and as part of the old fire ordinance is now obsolete
the matter was r.ef rred to the Board of ?ire Commissioners and the City
Attorney to'prepare a new ordinance and present the same to the Council.
The matter of shingling the barn at the Sewer :Farm was again brought to
the attention of the Council and referred to Councilman Iiewerts as
Chairman of the Buildings and Grounds Committee.
City .engineer drove reported the sewer on G Street now complete.
