Regular meeting of the Council of the City .of Petaluma called to
order by Mayor . Sale.s .

Councilmen present.Allen,3atchelor, Farrell, Button, Riewerts,
Van Bebber and Mayor Sales.
READING OF_THE JOURNAL:
The marmites o the last regular meeting of October 6th were read
and approved as :recorded;
REPORTS OF CITY -OFF I.CERS : ,
The 016rk the filing of Affidavit of Publication of
Resolution of Intention #3025 C.S. re American Alley; also the filing of
Affidavit of Posting of Notices of Improvement re American Alley.
REPORTS OF STANDING COEMITTEE&:
The 'Finance` Commi,tte°e _rendered its ..report of numerous .claims
against the City, whereupon

introduced by Councilman :Allen, seconded-by Coun oilman Button, directing
the. Auditor- to draw warrants against the various City. Funds, adopted by'7
affirmative votes.
' Parking .Signs
The Street Committee reported on parking signs, stating that 60
parking. signs and lb "U" turn signs would be required at a cost of about
j320:.00 , It was decided, at present, to install a lesser number of signs
and the committee was giYen further time to ascertain the number needed
and report back.
The Building and Grounds Committee reported having had the roof
of the battery room repaired and a stove installed in the Clerk's office.
PETITIONS AND COM1 1 ,1UNICATIONS :
'A lett,er writteri by Mayor Sales adkdressed to the Board of Under-
writers requesting; that the ins- a.rance rates of Petaluma be lowered because
of numerous improvements in the Fire Department and water fac- .lities, and
a communication from the Board of Underwriters replying to said letter,
read and filed.
Application from Robert Pace for permission to sell soft drinks
read and filed.
INTRODUCTION OF ORDINANCES:
-. Ordinance No..260FC.S., being a new fire ordinance was introduced,
read and ordered posted.
NEW BUS!—NESS:
-Resolution #302B C..S.
introduced by Councilman Button, seconded by Councilman Riewerts, granting
the application 'of Robert Pace for permission t'o sell soft drinks, adopted
by 7 affirmative votes..
The application of Camm & Hedges Co. to install a valve post at
..Washington and Bayliss Streets was referred to the fire chief.

introduced. by Councilman'Batchelor, seconded by C'ou.ncilman Allen, appoint-
ing the Building & Grounds Committee a committee with power to act to have
the front steps, flolor of hall and first flight of stairs in the City Hall
painted, adopted by 7 affirmative voters.

introduced by Councilman Riewerts, seconded by Councilman Button, directing
the Auditor to draw -a warrant in the sum of 0375.00 in favor of Howe &
Peters as final payment of sewage system report,,adopted by 7 affirmative
votes
Town Clock
The Building & Grounds Committee reported having visited the
town clock on the ,Idasonib Temple during the, recent storm and reported
that the interior of the tower was perfectly dry, and that the leak was
from 6 to 8 feet away from base of the tower and due, not to the
cloak tower, but to a faulty roof. The Committee waa directed to take
the matter up formally with the trustees of the Masonic Hall- Association
and explain the result of their- investigation.
The matter of a new method of lighting for the clock was left
to the Building and Grounds Committee with power to ac,t.
Property owners the Baker Tract addressed the Council request-
ing some action in the matter, of getting a sewer for their homes. 'he
matter was referred to the Street committee and City Engineer for in-
vestigation and report back.

granting the application of property owners on:5th.and -J Streets for the
construction of a sewer by private contract, adopted by 7 affirmative
votes.

Property owners on D and 7th Streets presented a resolut -on to
the Council, asking that the City pay for curb and gutter >work done on
said streets:,. The said claim was declared illegal by the City Attorney
and therefor withdrawn.
A representative of a steel cabinet safe company addressed the
Council relative to furnishing fire proof safes for the reco "rds of the
City Engineer and City Assessor. • 'he Committee was requested to file a.
written report., at the next meeting covering the subject
