ROLL ,CALL : Councilmen present,; Allen., Farrell, Button, Riowerts,'Van Bebber and Mayor Sales. Absent Councilman Batchelor. READING OF TIE. JOURNAL: The minut'es-of the last .regular meeting of October 20th and the adjourned meeting of October 23rd were read and approved as recorded. REPORTS OF CITY .OFFICERS: The monthly reports of the Auditor,, Treasurer and Wharfinger were read and filed The Clerk reported the filing of Affidavit of Posting of Ordinance #260 C.S., affidavit of- Publication of Notice Inviting Sealed Proposals re Ame;ricsn Alley; Affidavit of Publication of Notice to Bidders re Electroliers and affidavit of pos °ting of Notice Inviting - Sealed Proposals re American Alley. REPORTS .OF STANDING C TANOT81ITTEES.:. The Finance Committee rendered its report of numerous claims against the City, whereupon Resolution #3037 C.S. introduced by Councilman Van Bebber, seconded by Councilman Button -, directing the Auditor to draw warrants against the various funds in payment of claims allowed and approved by the Finance Committee, adopt - ed by '6 affirmative votes, 1 absentee.. , The Building and -Grounds 'Comm ittee.reported in re painting of the stairs, lobby, etc. of the city hall. PETITIONS AND G0120NICATIONS : Communication from the 'Board of Fire Commissioners, containing a; resolution un • nimously adopted by the Board read and filed. ADOPTION, OF ORDINANCES,•: :'Ord Nance No'. 260 C.S came up regularly for adoption but as all had not read it the ordinance was put over until the next regular NEW BUSINESS: .American Alley - This. being the time set for to open and read two bids ellfhment- of American Alle y the Clerk from Wm. Sylva. and one from 6 ohlunegger Bros, whereupon Resolution #30,38 C.S. introduced by Councilman Farrell, sec - ondad by Councilman Allen, act ing the bid of A. Schlunegger and- directing the lvlayor to enter into a contract with .said .A. Schlunegger was adopted by 6 affirmative, votes 1 absentee. The bid of 'Wm. Sylvia being rejected on a clerical error. Electrolie rs No bids being received for the furnishing of ten electroliers, Resolution #3039 C.S. introduced by Councilman Allen .,. saaonded by Councilman Button,. directing the. City 01,erk to re- advertise for bids for furnishing the City of Petaluma with.ten electroliers was adopted by 6 affirmative votes, 1 absentee. Fire Eose - - Resolut'ion jr304D C.S. introduced 'by Councilman Van Bebber, seconded by Councilman Farrell,, granting, the request of the Board of Fire Commissioners to contract for 1200 feet of 2 cotton jacket fire hose at the monthly rental of 1p199. adopted 'by 6 affirmative votes, 1 absentee. Baby Clinic - On motion by Councilman Farrell, seconded by Councilman, Button, it was regularly moved, and carried that the City Council take over the JOA 609 expense of the baby clinic not to exceed the Sum of 030.00 per year. Property owners,-.appeareA and asked for repairs to the alley in the block of Liberty' Street, between Oak and Prospect. ,They also request- ed a light for said , alley. Referred to the Street Committee for recommendations. The Mayor asked that each department turn in a list of all articles for which they had no further use, said articles to be advertised for sale. Mr. Schlunegger, , who was present at the meeting.,, was asked to hurry along the sidewalk work as much. as possible The matter of - driving piles along the river was discussed at length and it was decided to take the_ma-tter up with theelectric railway company and see what arrangements could be made relative to driving the piles. The number. of parking signs to be placed in the business district was again,discussed.and it was the c,onsensu:s of opinion to get along with as few as possible for the time being, adding more when needed.
