Rovember 1r7 1924.
Regular meeting of the Council of the City of Petaluma called
to o rder by Mayor Sales.
ROLL CALL,':
Councilmen present; Alley, Farrell, ] Button, Riewerts, Van
Bebber and Sales.
Absent Councilman Batchelor.
READING OF THE JOUTOTAL :
The minutes of the last regular meeting of November 3rd were
read and apAroved as recorded.
REPORTS _OF CITY OFFICERS:
The `Clerk 're ported the filing of Af fidavit davit of Publication of
Notice of .Award of Contract - American Alley and Affidavit of
Publication 'of Notice to Bidders re Electroliers.
REPORTS OF STA -BDIIG COMMITTEES
- The Finance - Coil-uiittee -- rendered its report of numerous elands
against the city., whereupon,

introduced by Councilman Van Bebber, seconded by Councilman Button,
directing:, the Auditor to draw warrants against the various City
Funds in payment - 'of claims allowed and approved by the Finance
Committee, adopted by 6 affirmative vote 1 absentee.
Councilman Riev eats re:po.rt.ed progrezz on work ordered in the
city hall and the committee was granted further Mime in whi to. ,
complete the work. The matter of repairiiig and modernizing the
City ,Jail was left to the Building and Grounds Committee with
power to act, providing the work comes under the :200. limit.
`the Street Committee reported having investigated pile drivers
and found that there are two pile driver in the city but no barge
on which to place them. The Committee eras asked to ascertain the
cost of bringing a pile driver here. from San Francisco and report
back..
Street Committee wa given further time to report on a light
for the alley on Liberty Street, between Oak and Prospect Streets.
PETIs.'IONS AND CO dMUITICATIONS :
Regaest from - police officer Martin Backer for a.60 days leave
of absence read and filed.
List �of unused articles to be advertised for sale was read
and taken under advisement until all the department file their lists.
ADOPTION OF ORDIlVANCES:

seconded by Councilman Van Bebber, came up regularly and was adopted
b the following vote: Ayes, Allen, Farrell, Button, Riewerts, Van

"This being the time set for opening bids for the furnishing of
ten ele.ctrolie.rs the Clerk proceeded to open and read one bid from
the %festingl ouse Electric and manufacturing- Company, whereupon
Resolution #3042 C.S.
introduced by Councilman Farrell, seconded by Councilman Van Bebber,
accepting the said bid and authorizing the r ayor to enter into a
contract with the Westinghouse Electric and Manufacturing. Co. was
adopted by 6 affirmative votes, 1 absentee

granting the application of Martin. Backer, police officer, for 60
days leave of absence, adopted by 6 affirmative votes, 1 absentee.

introduced by Cola cilman Van Bebber, seconded by Councilman Farrell,
appointing Ellis .Hart a member of the Board of Fire Commissioners,

to fill the vacancy in said Board created by the death of George
B Rodd., adopted by 6 affirmative votes, 1 absentee.
The: matter of the unsanitary conditions of the street cans
- was referred to the Street Superintendent and Street Commit tee .
with power to act.
The condition of Wa Street and Western Avenue was
di.scussed at length aencl referred to the Street CorimAttee for investi-
,-ati,on and recommenda-ti,ons.
The new sewage was disc the report of' 'the -engineers
now beino under consideration.
The matter of the long delay in laying the sidewalks was discussed
at. length.
