January 19th,.1925.
Regular meeting of the Coun.cil'of the C ity of Petaluma called to
order by I Sales.
ROLL` CALL
Councilmen present'; Allen,. Farrell, Button, Ri- ewerts, Van Bebber

READING. OF THE '_JOURNAL:
The minutes of the last regular meeting of January 5th were read
and approved as recorded.
REPORTS 'OF' CITY OFFICERS
The reported'the filing of Affidavits of Publication re
Delinquent Tax List ,and Notice of Auction Sale,' also the filing of
Affidavit of Posting of Ordinance No. 263 C.S.
The Clerk reported that money received to date from the sale of
unused articles is 0109.74, with money still due from the sale of the
old fire bell. "
REPORTS •.OF. STANDING COMMITTEES
The Finance Committee rendered its report of numerous claims
against the city, whereupon
Resolution #3072 C.S.
introduced by Councilman Allen, seconded by Councilman Button, directing
the Auditor to draw war - rants against the various City Funds, in payment
of claims allowed and approved by the Finarice Committee, adopted by 6
affirmative votes 1 absentee.
Councilman Button was given further time to investigate "prices
for driving piles along the river.
Councilman.Riewert;s reported that the gasoline pump and tank,
purchased from the Schlnckebier Hdwe. Co. had been installed at the City
Hall and that the contract for remodeling the cells in the city prison
had been awarded to.Herbert Tuttle, work to begin today. Also that
'a hot water system had been installed in the fire station for the use
of the firemen.
PETITIONS AND C(MUNICATTONS
Application of Arthur J. Ballard, 171 Main Street, for permission
to sell soft drinks, read and filed.
'Communication signed by a t complaining against skating
on the sidewalks, read and filed.
INTRO'DUC'TION' OF ORDINANCES
Ordinance Noe 264 introduced by Councilman Farrell, seconded
by Councilman Van Bebber'was read and ordered published.
ADOP OFtiORDINANCES.
Ordinance No. '263 G.S. introduced by Councilman Farrell, seconded
by Councilman Batchelor; appropriating the sum of 0300. for the use of
the City Planning Commission came up regularly and was adopted by 6
affirmative votes, 1 absentee.
NEW BUSINESS
Resolution #5073 C.S.
introduced by Councilman.Allen, seconded by Councilman Button, granting
the application of Arthur J. Ballard for permission to sell soft drinks,
adopted by 6 affirmative votes, 1 absentee.

that the public interest and necessity demand the acquisition, construc-
tion and completion of'a.comple.t "e, rehabiltated..sewer system for the
City of Petaluma, and an o- atfall sewer for the sanitary disposal o.f th,e..
sewage of said City, and, the ac,q isition and purchase of the necessary
sewer easements and rights of way, and the acquisition and purchase of
a site or location for a future sewer treatment plant and the purchase
of necessary rights of Wray thereto;�!�and that said work of improvement
is necessary and convenient to carry out the objects,
powers and purpo of the municipality and for the proper sanitation
and health of said community; and that the cost thereof is and will be
too great to be paid out of the ordinary annual income and revenue of
the municipality, and will requi the incurring of a bonded 'indebted-
ness therefor'. � Adopted by 6 affirmative votes,. 1 absentee.
Communication from the League of California Municipalities
requesting the Council to adopt suitable resolutions addressed to the
legislature,, requesting that efforts be made to have the bills printed
as speedily as possible and `sent to'interested citizens without delay,
read and filed, whereupon
Resolution #3077 C:S.
introduced by Councilman Allen, seconded by Councilman Button, requesting
that the legislature of the State of California provide ways and means
for the prompt printing o,f all bills pending and the, speedy distribution
thereof, adopted. by 6 affirmative -votes 1 absentee.
Copy of said resolutions directed sent to Wm'. Locke, Secy. of
the League of California Municipalities.
Couurieilman Van.Bebber thanked the Council for their resolutions
of sympathy in his recent accident.
It was regularly moved and seconded'that a vote'of thanks be ex-
tended,Mr. Jamas Murphy for acting as auctioneer for the recent sale of
unused articles.
The Clerk was directed to apportion the money receivad.from the
auction sale to the various departments from which different articles
came.
Chief of Police Flohr asked that the Council pay the bill of X625.43
of the Kane Detective hgency and Councilman Van Bobber introduced an
ordinance appropriating the sum of §625.43 for said purpose but the
ordinance receiving_no second, the matter was again laid on the table.
