order by Mayor Sales.

that-if the 'bill of the Kane Detective Agency Is not paid within the
next thirty days suit would be filed for the collection of same, read

Ordinance No.. 269 C :S., introduced by 'Councilman Allen, declaring
the intention of the City Council to acquire certain sewer easements and
describing the district to be benefited by said improvement and to, be
assessed to pay the expense thereof, approved by the City Attorney and
ordered posted.

came up regularly and was adopted by 7 affirmative votes.

introduced by Councilman, Batchelor, seconded by Councilman Allen,

protesting - against the granting of the application of the San Rafael
Freight and Transfer Co. for the, removal of the restriction in weight
for package merchandise, by the Railroad Commission, adopted by 7
affirmative votes.

Resolution #309.9 C.S.
inr ;.ro ud ^e d by Councilman Tan Bebber, seconded by Councilman Farrell,
directing the City Engineer to prepare plans and specifications for the
improvement of Central Ave, from Kent to Galland St., adopted by 7
affirmative votes.
Councilman Farrell was granted further time to bring in plans and
specifications for the installation o;f electroliers.

authorizing and directing the Chief of Police to , - standardize the holsters
and revolvers of the Police Department, adopted by 7 affirmative votes.

introduced by Councilman Farrell, seconded by Councilman Van Bebber,
authorizing and empowering the Ma to enter into a renewal. of the
lease with 'Wm. V. Conway and °Michael Conway for the rock quarry lands,
adopted by 7 affirmative votes.

ment of "G" Street from 8th to the City limits, adopted by 7 affirmative
votes.

the Clerk to advertise for bids for the furnishing of labor and material
for the ^construction of .a new concrete - bridge across Thompson Creek on
5th St. , adopted by 7 affirmative vot °s..
In this connection it was understood that the money for the bridge
may be borrowed from the Rock Crusher Fund,

introduced by Councilman Allen, seconded by Councilman Batchelor, direct -
ing the ,Mayor to enter into a contract in writing with pro:pe;rty' owners
ad jwoining the boundary of Kenilworth Park to. the effect that the City
of Petaluma - covenant 'to reconstruct a fence on said boundary line, the
-
same to be a stock wire fence 4 feet -in height , in lieu of a board fence
7' feet in IA -ght, adopted by 7 affirmative votes. The'Clerk was
directed to have said contract recorded.
Councilman Allen reported adversely to filling the holes on Madison
Street.
Irwin Street im v_.
The ity. Engineer was directed to.prepare: plans and specifications .
for a sewer:along the length of :Irwin Stree't9 also plans and specifications
for the: improvement of the street.. The .City Attorney to look into the
title of the street'.
The, application of J. A. lAcile:ar for a 'deed to a strip of land'on E.
"D" Street was discussed at length and referred t °o the City Attorney.
Mayor. Sales and Fire Commissoner Newburgh reported on their con -
ference with the Board of Fire Underwriters and the Mayor ie'ad a letter
received by him from to ;e Board since their visit:
T - he :matter of taking care` of the trees' at the Sewer Farm referred
to Councilman Batchelor.
iihe Street Committee was given power to act in having -wings built at
the bridge near the; Rogers property to protect the wall from further
flood damage.
Councilman Button, Batchelor and City Attorney Howell were appointed
a'committee to bring in an ordinance designating -the type, of building
which may be erected in certain parts of East Petaluma.
The matter of repairing the bulkhead at various points along Thompson
Creek was reported delayed until the r. •iny . s;eason is over'- it being

dangerous to undertake the 'work at this time

"BE . 3T RESOLVED THAT WHEREAS, the Police Department of the .City of
Petaluma has lost a valuable and efficient police officer_by the sad
and untimely death of Officer Bert Johnson while in the performance. of
his duties as a guardian of the peace and safety tof the people of
Petaluma; and,.
Whereas, this Council deems it At and appropriate to express its
admiration and appreciation of the fearless and efficient manner in
which.its deceased officer performed his official duties, and of his
constant vigilance for the enforcement of law and order;
Therefore,. Be It Resolved That this Council extend to the bereaved
family of the deceased and to his aged mother its deepest regret and
sympathy, on its own behalf and on ' behalf of the people 'of, the City of
Petaluma, and that in honor of 'the memory of 'the deceased this resolution
be. spread upon the minutds of this meeting, and that a copy thereof-be
sent to the mother of the deceased,; adopterd by 7 affirmative votes.
