READI94 OF THE JOURNAL; The ' minu:tes of the last regular meeting of April 6th were read and approved as recorded. REPORTS OF CITY OFFICERS . .The "Clerk reported the filing of Affidavits of Publication re Resolu- tion of Intention Central Avenue and Notice Inviting Sealed Proposals re pile driving. Also the affidavit of posting of notices of improvement along Central Avenue and affidavit of posting of Ordinance VO. 276 C.S. The City Engineer submitted report on sidewalks to be laid.; also est- imates of.cost of improvement of "G" Street, from 8th Street to the south City line. riled. REPORTS OF STANDING C.OMUII'T'TEES The Finance Committee _rendered its report of numerous claims against the City whereupon, Resolution 77,3121'C.S. introduced by Councilman Allen, seconded by Councilman Van Bebber, direct- ing the Auditor to draw warrants against the various City Funds in payment of claims allowed and approved by the Finance Committee, adopted by 6 affirmative votes, l absentee. Y Councilman Riewerts reported the fire station painted and that a light had been placed in front of the City Jail Filed. PETITIONS AND GOIL /Application for pe!rmiss:ion to sell soft 125 Main Street, read and filed, Whereupon Resolution ,3122 C.S. introduced by Councilman. Allen., seconded b y said application, adopted by 6 affirmative drinks from Harry Kenealey, Councilman Button, granting votes, 1 absentee. Application from M. H. Fredericks for a permit to construct a corrugat- ed iron roof over the Reynaud Building on Washington Street read, filed and referred to the Fire Chief. Report from E. H. Laggard of estimate of material necessary to be dredged from Petaluia Creek 'between Vlashington Street' Bridge and the north end of Lamm & Hedges Wharf, read and filed, and Resolution #312`3 C.S. introduced by Councilman Allen, seconded by Councilman'Button, extending the gratitude and appreciation of the City Council to Mr. Haggard for his survey and report, adopted by 6 affirmative_ votes, 1 absentee. Ordinance No. 278 C.S. providing for the removal of grass during the month of April of each year, introduced by Councilman Button, seconded by Councilman Allen, read, approved by the City Attorney and ordered published.. ADOPT ION ' OF ORDINANCES: rdinance No 276 S'. providing for the sale of public property of the City of Petaluma, located at the northwesterly corner of Douglas & Post Streets, introduced by Councilman Allen, seconded'by.Councilman Button, came up regularly and.was.adopt:ed.by 6 affirmative votes, 1 absentee NEJ BUSINESS File Driving This being the time - set for opening Petaluma River, the Clerk proceeded to Renner Foundation Company S. Gonzalez &. W.G.Rennison whereupon bids for driving piles along open and read two bids from: $425..00 X675.00, Resolution #3124 C.,S. introduced by Councilman Allen,; seconded by' Councilman :Sutton, accepting the bid of the Renner .Foundation Company, and authorizing the IViayor to enter into a contract for the doing of said work with `said successful bidder, adopted by 6 affirmative votes., 1 absentee. Councilman Farrell submitted specifications for the installation of electroliers, whereupon Resolution #3126 C'.S:. introduced by Councilman Farrell, seconded by Councilman Van.Bebber, adopting and approving said plans and specifications, adopted by 6 affirmative votes, l absentee, and Resolution #3127 C:S. introduced by C'ounci'lman. Farrell, seconded by Couneilman,Van Bobber, directing the City Clerk to &dvertise for bids for the, installation of said electroliers, adopted by 6 affirmative votes, ,l absentee. Sale of Douglas. St. lot. "Resolution #3128 introduced by Councilman Allen., seconded by Councilman Riewerts, directing the City Clerk to advertise for bids or" offers, for the purchase of that certain lot at the northwest cornier of Douglas & Post Streets, reaentl:y. acquired by the City, adopted by 6 affirmative votes, 1 absentee. Holsters - Police Dept. Resolution #3129 introduced by Councilman Riewerts, seconded by Councilman Button, auth- orizing the Chief of Police to purchase holsters for the members of the Police force, adopted by 6 affirmative votes, 1 absentee: Invitation to Dania Grand Lodge. ° Resolution #3130. C.S. introduced by Councilman Van .Bobber, seconded by Councilman Farrell, extending to the Grand Lodge of Dania of California and Nevada a cordial invi,tati.on.,on behalf of the, City of Petaluma, to hold its next convention in this, city, and directing the Clerk to forward a copy of. this resolution to Mr. Carl Plow at San Rafadl,,, adopted by 6 affirmative votes, 1 absentee. On'motibn by Councilman . Farrell , seconded by Councilman Allen, the policies of insurance •on the City ,Rock Crusher, expiring May lst, were ordered renewed. Extension of time sidewalks... On motion by Councilman Farrell, seconded by Councilman Riewerts, time until the let of August was granted for.the laying of sidewalks. Rock Crusher lease* ° On motion by Councilman I Van Bobber, 'seconded by Councilman Button the matter of renewing the lease on the City Rock - Crusher lands was left to the Kock. Crusher "Committee for' inve=stigation and report. The C'i'ty Clerk was directed to write 'the City Officials of Stockton' and Lodi , thanking them for the courtos e's` extended to the City Council and members of the Chamber of Commerce on their recent visit. Also directed to thank the Chamber of Commerce for the, interest they have manifested and their efforts in behalf of the proposed new sewage system. 1 I The City Attorney was requested to look up the legal status of the road leading from the highway to the Sewer Farm. 77 rr�� 6 41 JOAV The matter of cutting a door through the west wall of the fire station was brought up by Councilman Van Bebber and referred to the Buildings & Grounds Committee with power to act, The Chief of Police was.empowered to purchase parking signs from San Rafael. Request from (firs. tronini in behalf of the Bliss District for permission to'haul old Cans, etc. to the . Sewer Parm, was granted with the poviso that care should be used in dumping the debris in the proper places. The bill of the Kane Detective Agency was again brought before the Council, Mr. Vogensen urging that same be paid. No action taken.
