Regular meeting of the Council of the City of Petaluma called to
order by Mayor Sales.
ROIL CALL
• Councilmen present, Allen, Batchelor, Button, Farrell, Riewerts,
Van Behber and Mayor Sales.
READING_ OF THE JOURNAL:
The minutes of the last regular meeting.of April 20th and the
adjourned meeting of April 27th were read and approved as recorded.
REF.ORTS OF CITY OFFICERS:
.t'he monthly reports of the Auditor, Treasurer, Wharfinger and
Police Judge were read and filed.
The Clerk reported the filing of of posting of notices
iof °improvement of Irwin Street and "G" Street; also the filing of
affidavits of publication of Resolution of Intention for the
of ' G" Street and notice to bidders re electrolier installation and
for the sale of Douglas Street lot.
REPORTS OF. STANDING COVD4ITTEES
The Finance Committee rendered its report of numerous claims
against the City, whereupon
Resolution X3133 C.S.
introduced by Councilman Allen, seconded by Councilman Van Bebber,
directing the Auditor to draw warrants against the various City Funds,
in payment of claims alloyed and approved by the Finance Committee,.adopt-
ed by 7.affirmative votes.
PETITIONS AND COMM1MICATIONS
Request from Police Judge Plank foran increase_ of salary, read,
filed and taken under advisement.
Invitation from the ,,Petaluma Woman's Club to attend a lecture
on City Planning by Mr. Carol Aronovici, read and filed.
Letter from'Mrs. Benton regarding the bulkhead on her property
on 4th Street, read and filed.
Letter from Major Schultz regarding the deposit of money for the
dredging of, Petaluma _River, read and filed.
INTRODUCTION OF ORDINANCES:
Mir. Young addressed the Council regarding the payment of the. Kane
Detective bill, and after some discussion on-the subject Ordinance No. 2'79
C.S., in by Councilman Farrell seconded by Councilman Button,
appropriating and setting aside the sum of $626.43 for the payment of
claims of detectives for services and 'expenses, was approved by the City
Attorney, read and ordered posted.
ADOPTION OF _ORD:I11ANCES_:
Ordinance No. 277 C. S. being an election proclamation, introduced
by Councilman Allen, seconded by Councilman Riewerts, came up regularly
and was adopted by 7 affirmative votes.
Ordinance 140. 2.78 C.S. introduced by Councilman Button, seconded
by Councilman Allen, providing for the removal of grass, weeds, etc.
,during the month of April of each year,, came up regularly and was adopted
by 7 affirmative votes.

Sale of D.ouglas 5tre,et lot:
This being'the't me set for opening bids for the sale of the lot
situated.at the corner of Douglas & Post Streets, the Clerk proceeded to
open and read two bids; one from Walter H..Holman in the sum of $151.00
and one from A. W. Baker in the sum of X457.00, whereupon
Resolution V3134 G.S.
introduced. by Councilman Batchelor, seconded by Councilman Allen,, accepting
the bid of A. W. Baker and authorizing the Mayor to execute a deed to said
successful bidder, adopted by.7 affirmative votes.
Installation of electroliers:
This being the time set for opening bids for the installation of
electroliers,, the Clerk ; proceeded

Councilman Farrell, seconded by Councilman Van Bebber,
bid of Chine Electric Works and authorizing the Mayor to
contract for -the doing of said work, adopted by 7 affirmative

Councilman.Van Bebber brought up the matter of a hydrant on "F"
Street which was placed by mistake outside of the -city limits. On motion
by Councilman Farrell, seconded by Councilman Riewerts it was left to the.
Board of Fire Commissioners.
Councilman Riewerts brought up the subject of a roller desk for
the City.Engineer's Office. Referred to the Buildings and Grounds
Committee for investigation and report.
Resolution #3136 C.S.
introduced by Councilman. Van Bebber, seconded by Councilman Batchelor,
directing the Auditor to draw a warrant in sum of $7000`. and deposit
the same in the Sonoma County National Bank to the credit of the Treasurer
of the United*States, to be devoted to the dredging of Petaluma River,
adopted by 7 affirmative votes.
Resolution #3137 C.S.
ntroduc ;ed by Councilman Van Bebber, seconded by Councilman Farrell,
directing the Auditor and 'Treasurer to transfer from the Municipal Fire
Impv. Bond Fund to the Fire Fund the sum of X1463.8`3, adopted by 7
affirmative votes.
