REPORTS OF CITY OFFICERS ' - Th'e City Engindet submitted cost of the improvement of -Broadway Street,. between Dana and English Streets. Filed. The annual report of the Library Trustees was read and filed. REPORTS OF S';TANDIrdG COMiy2ITTEES Th6 Finance Committee 'rendered its report of numerous claims against the City, whereupon Resolution #3171, C.S. 'introduced by Councilman Van Bebber, seconded by Councilman . J&ssen, d-ree.t ng the Auditor to draw warrants against the various City Funds in payment of.claims allowed and approved by the Pinance committee, adopted by '7 .affirmative: votes The City Engineer reported having inve °st "igated the need of, a manhole at Post and English Streets and recommended that one be place`d'at that location. :Filed and referred to the Street Committee with power to act. PETITIONS AND CO10NNI CAT ION S Application from M.' "Vonsen Co. for a permit to construct a spur track . leaving the Petaluma and Santa d6sa nailroad's main line. track read and filed, whereupon Resolution #3172 C.S. introduced by Councilman Jessen, seconded by Councilman Glahn, granting said application, adopted by 7 affirmative votes. Petition. signed by 100 property owners and tax payers of the City of Petaluma asking that proceedings be instituted for the calling of a special election to vote upon a proposition for the issuance of bonds for the, purpose of the acquisition of a building site and the construction of a municipal swimming tank and public baths,;re'ad and filed, and on motion by Councilman Jessen, seconded by ,Councilman Van Bebbex, the entire matter was taken under advisement. INTRODUCTION. NEW.,B'USINESS; 'Councilman Farrell reported that property owners on Irwin Street had , cl6aned up the street considerably and now requested that the City furnish some-rock for further improvement. On motion by Councilman Van Bebber, seconded by Councilman JeSsen it was referred to the Street Committee with power to act. The Mayor stated that the Egg Day Committee had requested, a donation .of some 700 paving blocks to be used in the construction of an oven at Kenilworth Park. On motion by Councilman Farrell, seconded by Councilman. Glahh,the request was granted. 1 1' Councilman Van Bebber reported on the cost of pjaving Washington Street, Wilson Street and Western .Avenue. The matter was discussed at length, representatives of the paving.company beng'present and answering questions relative to the. financing of_this work. The committee offering no recommendations the matter was; taken under advisement until Friday evening,, July 24th. 7 °JOAV 659 P Talamantes, city., teamster, addressed the Council giv the cost; of the upkeep of his teams and the amount received from the;City for their use, showing that he is losing money under the present arrangement. Councilmen Glahn and Riewerts were appointed a committee to investigate and report zback. Mr. Hopkins,*Park G.ommi;ssioner; requestedthat the Council take some action toward the improvement of East, "D" Street, as it is in very back condition at the present time.
