REPORTS OF CITY OFFICERS: __' Report of the Superintendent of Streets of his acceptance of Edith Street, read and tiled. RE O,RTS. OF STANDING CO.iyTJITTEES The Finance Committee rendered its report of numerous claims against the City, whereupon Resolution #3175 C.S.' .introdn.ced by Councilman .'Van Bebber, seconded by Coun °oilman Glahn, direct the Auditor to draw warrants against the various .City Funds in payment of claims allowed and approved by the Finance Committee, , adopted by 7 affirmative votes, PETITIONS AND COIVUL VI'CATIONS Petition signed by 66 property owners on Western Avenue protesting against ,the proposed improvement of Western Avenue read and filed. Communication from the Emporium asking that the Russian bell be loaned.� them during the week of the Diamond Jubilee, read and tiled. Later brought up under the•head of new business and on motion by Council- man Glahn, seconded by Councilman Farrell said request was granted. F ORDINANCE Ordinance No. 2:85 defeated. Ordinance 140. 285 C.S. introduced by Councilman.Riewerts, seconded by Councilman Ingerson, prohibiting the use of City Real or personal property for private gains or in conducting any private business came up regularly for adoption but was defeated by 7 negative votes. NEW BUSINESS On motion by Councilman Farrell, seconded by Councilman Jessen the matter of securing a ladies dressing room for the City Hall was referred to the Buildings and .'Grounds Committee with power to act. Resolution #3176 C.S. introduced by Councilman :Jessen, seconded by Councilman Glahn, approv- ing and accepting the 5th Street Bridge, adopted 'by 7 affirmative votes. 'The Mayor stated that the lights around the -new hotel had been reported as needlessly burning all night Referred to Councilman Farrell chairman of the Electrolier Committee for investigation. The matters of street paving and city izoning were discussed at length:'. Mr. G. P. mall appeared on behalf of- property owners on Western Avenue and.stated his views on the subjects The introduction of the zon nglordinance was again continued. On motion by Councilman Jassen;, seconded by Councilman .Iarrell, the petition of property on Western Avenue was tabled until some future time when the street paving will again be taken up.
