Regular meeting of the Council of the City of Petaluma called to order by Mayor Sales. ° ROLL CALL - Gouncilmen present: Je °ssen, hiewerts,.Van 3ebber and Mayor Sales. Absent: Councilman Farrell, Glahn and Ingerson. READI`DG OF THE JOiT NAL : The minu -tes of the last regular meeting of August 17th were read and approved as recorded,. REPORTS OF CITY OFFICERS: 'T -he Gle`rk' reported the filing of Affidavit of Publication of. Notice of Unpaid Assessment's on Edith Street. The monthly reports-of the Wharfinger, Auditor and Treasurer were read and filed. The.Superintendent of Streets.and City Engineer reported having examined the wharf on Water Street and of having ordered two signs placed on the wharf restricting the loads at three ton. riled. REPORTS OF STANDING CO11d IT TEE S : The Finance Committee rendered its report of numerous claims against the'Cit:y, whereupon A Resolution #3177 C.S. introduced by Councilman Jessen., sec'ond'ed by Councilman Van Bebber,, directing the Auditor to draw warrant against the var -ious City Funds, in payment of claims allowed and approved by the Finance Committee, adopted by 4 affi'rmat'ive votes, 3 absentees. City Attorney Howell 'and Councilman Je,ssen reported on the adopting of forms for requisitions for the. purchase of supplies, submitting a sample _form• of order blank. The matter was discussed at length but no action taken. PETITIONS AND C0 -TIO 1 : The -official call of the 27th annual c_ onvention of the League of Cali.fornia alunicipalitias read and filed. Communication from the Sonoma County iiati onal hank, asking that the Mocham fountain be placed permanently at it's present-. temporary location, read and filed. Later brought up under the head,of new business and on motion-by Councilman Van'Bebber, seconded by Councilman Jeasen said request was granted. Petition from J. C. Brookover, asking that a sewer be ordered in the. Carpenter Tract, beginning at the manhole in. the center of Webster Street and'Western Avenue and running northerly to a point to be designated by the Council, read and filed. referred to the City At- torney and Street Committee to ascertain if said portion of Webster Street is a legal street. . INTRODUCTION OF ORDINANCES The introduction of the zoning ordinance was continued until the next regular meeting. _ 14EIII BUS I NE °S S : Councilman Jessen brought up the matter of installing gates at the Washington Street bridge, the rope barriers being worn out - Referred to the street committee to investigate and report back. M. Seeberg addressed the . Council asking that a sewer be "ordered on .Payran Street "between East Washington and East " _Dii Streets whereupon �Rezolution #3179 C.S. introduced by Councilman lessen, second by Councilman van Bebber, directing the City Engineer to prepare plans and -specifi.cgtions for a sewer 'on Payran Street from — Washington to East "'D" Street was ado by 5 affirmative votes, 2 absentees. Mr also asked that OE" street,.between 6th and 7th streets, be improved. Edith Street - :hearing on the issuance of street bond -s.: This being the time set for the hearing of protests against the issuance of street improvement bonds against unpaid assessments on Edith Street and no prbta,sts being filed, Resolution #3180 C.S. introduced by Councilman Van bebber, seconded 'by Councilman Jessen, providing for the issuance_�df bonds', adopted by 5 affirmative votes, 2 absentees. A. S. Newburgh addressed the Council, asking authority to secure official press 'badges for the reporters. Request granted. Mayor Sales reported on the visit recently of the U.S. Engineers. Police Chief i''lohr brbught up the matter of arranging to give each police officer one day off a week, which arrangement would necessitate the hiring of an additional man. -10 action taken. Chief rilohr also asked that additional lights be placed at the following locations Keller St. 100 feet south of Washing,ton Liberty street, 100 feet. south of Bash ngton Fourth Street, between A and B Sts.
