ROLL CALL: Councilmen present: Glahn, Ingerson, Jessen, Riewerts, Van Bebber and Mayor Sales. READI14G - - O ' THE JOUIRIdAL The minutes of the 'la -st regular meeting of November 16th were read and approved as recorded. REPORT'S OF CITY OFFICERS: The monthly rbports of the Auditor, Treasurer, City Wharfinger and Police Judge were read and filed. The Clerk reported the .filing of Affidavit of Publication of Ordinance X287 C.S. and notice of filing of unpaid assessments Central Avenue. Also the filing of Affidavit of posting of Ordinance 112`86 C.S. The City Engineer submitted estimate of cost of the proposed sewer on Wilson Street and Last Court of Baker Subdivision. Later brought up under the Lead of New Business and it was the consensus of opinion that the street should be filled several inches - before the ,sewer is ordered in. Referred to the Street Committee and City Engineer. Estimates file'd.. The City Engineer also submitted survey of . sewer , on Ni Webster Street showing the necessity for another manhole. On motion by 'Council- man Glahn, seconded by Councilman Jessen, the Natter was referred to the Street Committee and City Engineer r.ith.powe.r to act.. Petitions against zoning ordinance: The Clark.reported having compared the signatures to the.. petitions protesting against the zoning ordinance and that said petitions contain signatures of 365 qualified electors of the City of Petaluma. In this matter -the City Attorney submitted a written opinion stating that the filing of these petitions does not operate to suspend the, operation of the zoning ordinance. Filed. Resolution 73214' C.S*. r introduced by Councilman Glahn, seconded by Councilman Van.Bebber, directing the Auditor to draw warrants against the 'various City Funds -in payment of claims allowed and approved by the Finance Committee, by 6 affirmative votes, 1 absentee. The ;Stre.et Committee reported having investigated the complaint of H. H. Taggart against the grade of "'G" Street, stating That the work was well -done and,' in their opinion, the 'Taggart property is not damaged. Report accepted. The Street Committee also reported having interviewed Hr. 77engen regarding damage to his property on 5th street, caused when the bridge was built across '`ihompson Creek, and recommended that the damage be rectified. xe.ferred to the Street Co mittec vrith power to act . IN!1ROPUGTIO N OF ORDINANCES - Ordinance No. 288 C.S. introduced by Councilman Jessen, seconded by Councilman Glahn, re.gu.lating the maintenance of curb oil or gasoline pumps, providing for the issuance of a permit for such installation, etc.,was read, approved by the City Attorney and ordered published. ADOP OF ORDIITAITCES: Ordinance No.' 2186 C.S. introduced by Covnci lman Van-Bebber, seconded -by Councilman Farrell, providing for the lease of the City Sewer Farm, came up regularly and was adopted by 6 affirmative votes, 1 absentee. The City Attorney gave notice"of suits brought against the City by the Cavanagh and Lynch estates to renew judgments awarded them some time ago: Said matter was turned over to the City Attorney. Mr. A. v. On motion by Councilman Jessen, seconded by Coun ilman Van Bebber, a committee w appointed to investigate and if advisable bring in an ordinance at the next regular meeting. The Iiiayor appointed Councilman Jessen, Glahn and Rierrerts on said committee. Bandstand in_Da Councilman Van Berber reported that the - etalu!na I uni.cipa °l. Band t 680 is desirous of constructing a bandstand in Central park on loxer Main St., said stand to'be constructed at no expense to the City. The Mayor appointed a committee consisting of Councilman Van Bebber, Glahn and Ingerson to, investigate and, report back. City Attorney Hoirell brought up the. matter of the pool rooms, asking if the license. per table is high enough in, consideration of the -fact that the police must give so much time to their regulation. No action taken. Councilman'Riewerts reported that a proposition had been made to lease stalls and ground at ' Kenilworth Park.. Referred to the Park Commaission.
