;j Minutes of a regular adjourned meeting of the City Council of
the "City of Petaluma, Mayor Zartman presiding.
ROLL CALL
The Clerk called the roll and the following members answered

to their names: Councilman Walsh, Fredericks, Ke- rcheval,Stradling;
- Healey. •jand - Mayor- Zartman. Absent Councilman Gossage o
Councilman Gassage came in later and was present during the
meeting.
READING OF JOURNAL.
Reading of the minutes of previous meeting was dispensed with.
REPORT OF OFFICERS.
The Clerk presented street improvement bond No.l Series.
No. 1, for the improvement of Sixth Street from the south line of
Sixth Stueet to "'I" Street.:
The usual record was ,ordered made and filed..
:. The Clerk presented a deed from Mary A.Lewis and others,
to a portion of lot No. 122. now. embraced in "C" Street. After
the Attorneys approval.of .same: the Clerk was directed to have
same reported. The Clerk presented the annual Atate the
Petaluma Power and ?Rater Co...for the year 1912. FILED.
PETITIONS COMMUNICATIONS.,
Communications were received giving prices for six horses
and two drivers for Oil Sprinkler flagon to be used in oiling streets,
prices as- follows Sylva and Shaver $12.0.0; Giggy and Durst $11.50;
S.E.Adams tll.00. Referred to the Chairman of the Street Committee
With power to act.
Property owners on First St.reetfrom "F" to\ "H" Street petitioned
the Council to'be allowed to construct the proposed new six inch iron_ i
stone pipe sewer along said First Street at private contract through
• S.E.Adams. All of the property owners along the Tine of the .p,roposed
sewer signed the petition.
RESOLUTION NO. 540.
Introduced by Counc lman.Kercheval, Seconded by Councilman
Healey.
BE ITS- RESOLVED THAT, The petition of the property owners along the
line of First street to construct a sewer on First street by private
contract be and the same is hereby granted,. The work to be done.to the
satisfaction of the Superintendent of Streets and the Street Committee, .
and according to specifications, heretofore adopted and on file:

Communication from The Pacific Tank Co relative to supplying the
City with a 7,000 gallon wooden tank for use at the local street
oiling plant in east, Petaluma. FILED
NEW BUSINESS,.
BIDS FOR OIL WAGON.
The following bids were received A an eight hundred and fifty
gallon capacity steel tank oil wagon. The. Austin Western Co $445.00;
N.F.Farrell �p403.50; A.L.Young Machinery Co... $392.50 FILED.
RESOLUTION NO. 541.
Introduced. -by Councilman Walsh, Seconded by Councilman Fredericks,
BE IT RESOLVED THAT the bid of the A..L.Young, Co. to
furnish an oil wagon as per plans and specifications heretofore adopted
for the sum-of $392.50 delivered at Petaluma; be and the same :is
hereby acce.pte.d;, and contract awarded therefore- to :said firm at'
said price..

RESOLUTION NO. 542.
BE IT RESOLVED THAT the City_Efi- gineer be and he is hereby directed
to prepare and submit to this Council plans, specifications and es.tinatas
for the improvement of Second street from the south line of "E" to the
north line of "H" street.
Vote: Ayes councilman Walsh, Fredericks,. Ke- rcheval., Stradling,
Healey and Mayor Zartman. Noes; done. Absent Councilman Gossage..

NEW BRIDGE DISCUSSED.
J.L.Camm addressed the= Council, urging action on the new proposed
bridge on Washington street.
Mr. H.P.Papert representing the United States Steel Products Co.
also addressed the Council. relative thereto and gave 'valuable infor-
mation relative to the types and characteristics of various bridges,
and highly recommended the trunion,Basc.ule bridge.
Nr. P.L.Kauffman of the.Strauss Bascule Bridge Co. was also
present and explained in detail.the proposed plans submitted by them.
The Clerk reported one propasal on file from the Strauss Bascule
Co. He was directed to open name.

We' herewith agree to furnish you our design of Strauss Trunnion
Bascule Bridge for your proposed Washington street bridge over
Petaluma. Creek., together with general plans and specifications in
sufficient detail to enable you to receive tenders thereon,. and.also
to enable the Contractor to repare his shop drawings, for the stun of
Seventeen Hundred and Fifty (1750.00) Dollars.
Thi.s charge also covers our service in advising You from time to
time as the :work p'rogress'e.s, and the right to build and use our bridge
at this point. It is understood that our ,general plans will comprls-
a strain sheet, general drawings and ,general details, and will conform!`
fully to your requirements, and will be subject to your and the United
State , <Gove.rnment4' ;s approval.
Of this charge of Seventeen Hundred and Fifty ($1750,.00,) Dollars,

_,7 one Thousand Two Hundred and Fifty ($1250.00) Dollars is payable on
delive-ry .of the general plans and specifications, and the remaining
Five ;iundred ($500. >00) Dollars,, on the completion of the bridge, the
time of said completion to be understood as the date on Which the
bridge is put into Service.

RESOLUTION NO'. 544.

BE IT RESOLVED THAT Dr. R..B- .Duncan be and he is hereby appointed a. member
of the 'Board of Health of the City of Petaluma, to fill the vacancy
occasioned by the death. of Dr. S:N.Froctor.

Councilman Fredericks brought up the matter of purchasing:a new
harness for the ambulance horse; No action taken.
