Councilman Walsh and Fredericks. w READING OF' JOURNAL The - minutes of a regular,meeting of June 2nd, and.the regular meeting of June 6th,, and a special.meeting of June 14th were read and approved as recorded. A . 'REPORT OF-OFFICERS'. The Clerk presented affidavit of publication: of John A. Olmsted, Printer-and Publisher of the Petaluma Argus for the publication of Ordinances N�o -s.. 91- 92- 93- ,94- 95- 96- and 91, as having been published according -to law. Filed; REPORT OF STANDING COMMITTEES. w ON FINANCE'. R Report of the Finance Committee signed by D.J.Healey was received and read and placed on file. Report shows in detail several amounts paid. General Fund $ 3.160.50. Same was adopted 3 by the following resolution: RESOLUTION NO. 553 ^` Introduced by Councilman Kercheval,Seconded by Councilman S'tradling. Be it resolved that , the minority report of the Finance Committee be and the same is hereby adopted, and the City Clerk: and Auditor be requested to draw warrants in payment of same. VOCE: At : Ayes: Councilmen Gossage, Kercheval, Stradling, Healey and Mayor Zartman. Noes: None.. Absent: Councilmen Walsh and Frederick PETITIONS. AND COMMUN- 1CATIONS Attorney Hall presented a communication from the Interior Department at Washington, asking for further .payment on account 'fo-f the; certified copy of.- the plat of the City of Petaluma. Same was ordered paid by the following Resolution: RES'OLUTI'ON NO. 554 Introduced by Councilman S'trad'ling,­Seconded by Councilman Kercheval. Be it resolved that the Clerk be and he is hereby directed to draw a warrant in favor of G. P. Hall, City Attorney_in the sum of 20.50 balance on .payment due the Dept. of Inter•.ior at Washington for a certified copy .of plat of City of Petaluma. Johnson, asking the liquor license now in his name be transfered to A. Peterson. Same was granted by the following resolution: RESOLUTION NO 555. Introduced b;y Counc-ilman Stradl Seconded by Councilman Kercheval. Be it Resolved that the liquor license now in the name of R. H.- Johnson for the conducting of a saloon at the corner of Western Ave and Kentucky Street in the Continental'Hotel, be and the same is hereby transfe'r•ed to A. Peterson, and the Auditor is hereby directed to note said change in the'License book, and in future to issue said license to A. Peterson. VOTE: Ayes:. A commun- ication was received from the Portola celebration committee,, of San F- rancisoo, asking that a Petaluman be chosen to serve this city on the celebration committee and urging co- operation.. Referred to next meeting to be taken up by the new council. A petition was -- received from property owners on Keokuk Street between Cherry and West streets, asking the board not to require said property owners to lay sidewalks on said property. No action. �o • 'INTRODUCTION OF ORDINANCES. RESOLUTION NO. 556 Introduced by Councilman Kercheval, Seconded by Couuncilman Stradling. Be it resolved that Ordinance No.98 be and the same is hereby adopted being: "An ordinance repealing ordinance No. 159, approved the 17th day of April, 1883, by M. Walsh, President of the Board of -Trustees, entitled an Ordinance "Establishing the grade of Second Street from B to H Streets ": and re-establishing-the. grade of second street from the east line of E'Street to the west Line -of G Street. The Ordinance:was referred to the City Attorney for approval, after which the Clerk was dire to have same published according to law. NEW BUSINESS. • • RESOLUTION NO. 557 Introduced by Councilman Kercheval, .Se,conded by' Cou.ncil�ian Healey, Be it resolved that the Chief' of Police and the Officers of the Police Department be and they are hereby instructed to permit the saloons, Pool - .rooms and. Cigar Stores be and they are hereby permitted to remain open until 2:00 o'clock A.M. on July 4th and 5th, 1913. VOTE: Ayes: Councilmen Gossage, Kercheval, Stradling, Healey and Mayor Zartman. Noes: None. Absent: Councilmen Walsh and Fredericks. RESOLUTION NO. 558 introduced by Councilman. Kercheval, Seconded by Gouncilman Stradling. Be it resolved that the Auditor be and he is hereby in- structed to .draw a warrant in favor of E. H. Butler, City Treasurer for the sum of $1.30 for recording deed Lewes to City of Petaluma. VOTE: Ayes: Councilmen Gossage, Kercheval, Stradling, Healey and Mayor Zartman, Noes: None. Absent: Councilmen Walsh and Fredericks. RESOLUTION NO. 559 Introduced by Councilman Gossage, Seconded by Councilman Kercheval. I: 1. I" Be it resolved that the Mayor be and is hereby empowered to T . T 413 sign a contract -with S. E: to grade, curb gutter, macadamize and oil that portion of ifirs.& S'tree.t abutted upon by land owned by the City of Petaluma. The work to be done according to plans, spec- ifications and estimates heretofore submitted by the City Engineer of the City of 'Petaluma, and adopted by the Council of said City for the sum of one dollar and seventy -five cents (1.75) per each lineal foot of the property fronting upon said proposed improvements. VOTE: Ayes: Councilmen"Gossage, Kercheval, Healey and Mayor Zartman. Noes: Councilman Stradling. Absent: Councilman Walsh and Fredericks. RESOLUTION NO.- 560 Introduced by Councilman Kercheval, Seconded by Councilman Stradling. Be it resolved that whereas bids having been submitted for the.City Official printing for the fiscal year beginning July lst, 1913 by the Petaluma Argus and the Petaluma Daily Courier, and, Wh.erea.s the bid as submitted by the Petaluma Daily Courier appears to be the lowest and best bid: Therefore be it resolved that the City official printing for the fiscal year beginning July lst, 1913 be and the same is awarded to the Petaluma Daily Courier, and the said Petaluma Daily Courier be required to furnish a bond to the City of Petaluma in the sum. of $ 250.00 VOTE: Ayes: Councilmen Gos Kercheval, Stradling, Healey and Mayor Zartmand Noes: None. Absent: Councilman VlJalsh and Fredericks. RESOLUTION NO 561 Introduced by Gouncilrrian Kercheval, Seconded by Councilman Stradling. Be it resolved that the Bond of the Pacific Gas and Electric Company having been,approved by the'City Attorney, the Mayor be and he is hereby directed to execute the contract accompanying said bond. VOTE: Ayes: Councilman Gossage, Kercheval, Stradling, Healey and Mayor Zartman. Noes: None Absent: Councilman Walsh and Frede-ricks. . 1 414 Councilman Kercheval reported the quarter inch and dust screen- ings bunkers at the crusher filled and asking what to do with the product. Referred to Street Committee. : The City Clerk reported that the Election returns from all the precincts for the Special Bond Election ::held. June 10th, 1913 had been returned receipted for, and the same were ready to be canvassed. The Council then canvassed the returns in open meeting by opening and counting the ballots, after which the Clerk was dir- ected to reseal said packages and keep th (em in the vault in his office, as required by law..
