The Clerk called the -roll and the followin- members answered to their names: Councilman Walsh. Gossage. Fredericks Stradling,Healey, and Mayor Gartman. »bsent Councilman kercheval. READING OF JOURNAL. Minutes of a regular. meeting of June l6th were read and approved as recorded. .. REPORT OF OFFICERS. City Attorney G. P. Hall presented a complete report of the work of.his oi"fice. during the past two years, giving the status of all litigation commenced during his term. Filed. The City Clerk presented the statistics of commerce and trade of the river for.-19.1, as compiled by W. S-. Stone, Filed The.City Engineer presented specifications and estimates for the improvement of Galland street. Chairman Gossage stated that he_ .believed that the streets„ should be entirely completed by the contractor and after said. completion, should be oiled by the City. Other members of the council coincided with him, City Engineer Hubbard thought otherwise, but said he Mould carry out instructions. The specifications 1, , vere referred back to the Street committee to be taken up with the city Engineer. The Clerk presented bond of Homer W. Wood of the Daily Yj Courier, on the city painting contract, the same was approved by the Sity Attorney, The bond was accepted by the following resolution: U Ei Mill' RESOLUTION' NO. 564. Introduced by Councilman Healey. Seconded by Councilman Stradling. The bond of Homer 7U. Wood having been examined and approved by -. I :NF f3. ti ,r. 'w � w, I . . the City Attorney, Be it therefore resolved that the said bond be accepted and the Clerk is Hereby directed to file the same. VOTE: Ayes: Councilman Walsh, Gossage, Fredericks, Stradling, Healey and Mayor Zartman. Nones: None. Absent; Councilman Kercheval. `REPORT OF STANDING CONU ITTEE. ON FINANCE: Report of the Finance Committee signed by M. H. Fredericks, Chairman, M. Walsh and D. J. Healey was received.and read and placed on file. Report shows in detail several amounts paid. General Fund 14 5196.74. Fire Dept. Fund $ 496.36. Same was adopted by the following resolution:- RESOLUTION "'N.0 . 565. Introduced by Councilman Stradling. Seconded.by Councilman Healey. Be it resolved that the report of the Finance .Committee be and the same is hereby adopted and the Clerk ind Auditor is directed to draw warrants in payment of said claims. VOTE: Ayes: Councilman Walsh, Gossage, Fredericks, Stradling, Healey and Mayor Zartman. Noes: None. .6.bsent: Councilman Kercheval. PETITIONS AND COMMUNICATIONS. Communication received from the War Department acknowledging receipt of a copy of the River Statistics for the year 1912. Filed. NEY BUSINESS. E. I. Ca.mm addressed the Council relative to the auctioneer's license. As the Attorney had not yet submitted his report in the matter there was no action taken. Mr. Caton representing the Pacific Gas & Electric Company addressed the Council at length relative to the Ordinance recently adopted'-reducing the gas rate fvom $ 1.50 to 1.25 per thousand. He stated that unless the rate was restored the Company would be compelled to take legal action in the matter, There was no action taken, and.it . was decided to pass the matter up to the next council. Chairmah Gossage reported hitch in the improvement of First Street. Two contractors not having enough signers to insure the work . 42 k . being done. The matter was not taken up by the Council at this time. Messrs. Egan, Hedges and Clark appeared. in behalf of the Fourth of July Committee, and asked that the committee -be given the use of Main, Washington and Kentucky Streets .and 'Nestern ,avenue for, a street, dance on the evening of July 3rd also that the, streets be properly policed. The request tiaras- granted and special officers a will be on duty. ADJOURNMENT. On motion of Councilman Healey, seconded by Councilman Walsh, the meeting adjourned till July 7th, at 11.30 A.M. Hall, City Attorney reported that he had received and approved: all the bonds of the incoming officers. All the newly elected officers for the ensuing year commencing July'7th;,.,1913 have presented their Certificate of election and were duly sworn in by Mayor Zartman.
