BACKGROUND The City Council requested an agenda item to discuss holding a workshop to hear a presentation about the North Bay Jobs with Justice campaign, Raise the Wage! North Bay Jobs with Justice is a non-profit coalition of labor unions and community, faith -based, environmental, and student organizations working to promote workers' rights and economic and social justice. They provide a space for open dialogue and collaboration between labor unions and community organizations. Raise the Wage! campaign is a regional effort by North Bay Jobs with Justice to improve the standards for workers across the Bay Area by requiring that each worker make at least $15 per hour. The Sebastopol City Council held a study session in November 2018 to examine the impacts of moving to a $15/hour wage in Sebastopol, which would ensure employers with 50 employees or more pay $15/hour by or before January of 2020 (with a cost of living adjustment every year after and paid sick days). The Sonoma and Santa Rosa City Councils have committed to moving forward with a study session. DISCUSSION If the City Council determines a desire to host a workshop regarding the Raise the Wage! campaign, the workshop could be held on a non -regular meeting Monday in April. The North Bay Jobs with Justice organization has expressed a desire to present, and they are available to do so on April 8"', the second Monday in April. FINANCIAL IMPACTS There is no financial impact as a result of this item.
