REGULAR MEETING.
Council, Chambers May 18, 1914.
A meet -ing of the City Council was. held this 18th day of May, 1914,
at 7 :30 o'c o -ck 'P. ,M. Mayor Ho,rwsge in the chair.

PRESENT: Councilmen Gos'.sage, Walsh, McCargar., Torr, Stradling,
.Healey., and Mayor Horwege.

REPORT OF. OFFICERS.
The following reports, were presented. and ordered filed: -
Report of Treasurer for the month o f . April.

publication of Ordinance No. 117; Also affidavit of the publication
of the no;ticp of Award of Contract for Kentucky and Fourth St's:.

REPORT OF STANDING COMMITTEE
ON FINANCE.
Two reports were presented by the Finance Uommittee. The
ma j;orty report for the payment of 41481 ..86,, and the minority
report favoring report of $218.09. After discussing the same,
both reports were adopted by the following resolutions;

reported

of $35.00. Filed.

PETITIONS AND COMMUNICATIONS.
Communication, was received from R. B Duncan., Health Officer,
relative to the employment of Mr.: C. D. Carpenter, as a Deputy
Health Officer.. The matter was, discussed". 'and it. was the= opinion
of the Councilmen that Mr.' Carpenter should perform the duties of
both offices for his present salary.
Communication was received from Carrol Shipman relative to
the report on the proposed street and sewer improvements, stating
that he would endeavor to have report ready before the next
meeting.
Communication from E. F. Bo ar was against letting the
contract for Keller Street work._ It was read and filed.
INTRODUCT °ION OF ORDINANCES.
Ordinance No:. 118'. C.. S..., establishing the grade of "I" Street
from 11 `8th" Street to the City Limits on 'the south. It.was
introduced and read. The Gl:erk was ordered to have same published
after having received _ the approval of the `City Attorney.
ADOPTION OF ORDINANCES.
Resolution No. 741.
Introduced by Councilman Stradling,, seconded by Healey:
Adopting Ordinance No. 117, establishing the grade of Howard St.
from Oak St. to the south side of West Street. Adopted by seven
affirmative votes. Noes, none. Absent none-.
NEW BUSINESS.
City Engineer Hubbard presented estimates and specifications
for the improvement of "2" Street ift-o'm Fifth 'Street t6 the
City Limits. Same was adopted as per resolution.

Introduced by Councilman Healey., seconded by Stradling.
Resolution adopting the plans and specifications for the improve-
ment of "'I "= Street from Fifth Street to the City Limits. Adopted
by seven affirmative votes,. Noes,, none; Absent, none,
RESOLUTION OF ATTENTION.'
RESOLUTION NO. 743. `
Ordering the following work to be done and improvements to
be made said city, to Wit:
At "H" Street, from the north line of 6th St to the south
bank of Petaluma Creek except its intersections at 3d,, 4th, and
5th Sts., be graded and subigraded, and the roadway be macadamized

NEW BUSTNLSS.
Councilman Walsh spoke of the Railroad sidewalk at East D.
and Hopper Sts.- not.being,complete.d. The Council directed the Clerk
to notify the Railroad Company to have same completed as soon as
possible. Filed'.
The Supt:. Of Streets *as directed - (owing to complaints) to
have the Street sewers flushed. Also complaint was again made on
certain property on'North Main Street,. Street Superintendent
was directed to notify the - owners to at once remedy the defect'.
