A meeting of the City Council was held this 6th day of August,
1914. Mayor Horwege in the Chair.
PRESENT: Councilmen Gossage, Walsh, McCargar, Torr, Stradling, Healey
and Mayor Horwege.

Introduced by Councilman Healey at a regular adjourned meeting of
the City Council of the City of 'Petaluma on the 6th day of August,1914.
RESOLUTION PROPOSING TO INCUR INDEBTEDNESS IN THE SUM OF SEVENTY FIVE
THOUSAND DOLLARS.
WHEREAS, in the opinion the Council of the City of Petaluma,
the public necessity and the public convenience requires the incurring
of an indebtedness and the said Council deems and determines that
the public interest required the construction of permanent -improvements
and. work hereinafter mentioned, and desctibed, and cost 'of which,
in addition other expend- itures of the City will exceed the and
revenue provided for in one year, and that it is necessary to incur an
indebtedness in excess of the money in the 'Treasury, appl cab° e to the
purposes for which such indebtedness is to be incurred:
That the aggregate amount of the indebtedness deemed and
determined to be necessary is the sum of Seventy Five Thousand Dollars,
in the gold coin of the United States, and is necessary for the
purposes herein set forth, tow: t:
First: For the bolding, construction, and equipment of a
cement conduit for the purpose of carrying off the surface waters coming
from a district west of the said City of „N7 - Pe`.taluma:- ,,odnd .flowing through
said City by the way of Thompson Creek, from a point where the said
Thompson Creek intersects Seventh Street to the bank of Petaluma Creek,
the sum of Forth Five Thousand '($45000.) Dollars.
Second: For the purpose of improving and repairing that port -.

provement of said Street at the present time. Filed.
'The Hammel , bill providing the pensioning of Civil Service
Employees of the Government was presented to the Council with the request
that it be indorsed The matter was discuss'ed without.action and laid on
the, tdhike.
The, mayor called the Gouncil's attention to the dangerous
coh(ftt'ion of.Water. Street. Messrs, McNear Maclay and Poehlmann
addressed the Board relative thereto and advised the piling and
bulkhe : ading of'sam'e..The Council agreed to taker.the matbter up°with
the vib-iv of remedying the same. Councilmen Stradling, McCrirgar
and Torr were named a committee to ascertain if they could pur-
chase the piles from the Pacific Gas & Company. The
matter will be taken up again at the next regular meeting.
