provisions of the Charter relating to the cost of supplies furnished

- Directing, the Clerk of the City of Petaltuna to send a return postal
card, to each and every, voter in the Lt.y.of I'etal't:trna, for the purpose of
getting an,_�e.,cpr•ession of opinion of the ,majority of said voters as to
whether the Council; of said' Cite shall appropriate the sum off. 41,000
for the purpose of advertising the City of Petaluma, and vicinity at

Councilman Torr, .presented a communication recommending that'
the Council set aside each year out of the tax levy, the s of
$1,000 to be used a's an, accident or emergency fund in lieu of
suring the city er:4ployees. He also recommended the payment by the
City the expenses of the weekly band concerts on Saturday nights
during the summer months, and the cons trac 'ion of a. band stand in
a suitG.ble central location. The matter of 'the -insurance was rem
ferred to the City Attorney and the band matter was,referred to the
Finance 'Com,
Councilman Early referred to the present condition of Xenilwor
th Park. The matter was referred to the Committee on Buildings and
Grounds to make inspection and - report back -to the Council.
The matter of the improper dumping of refuse at the City dum;s
was di- scussed. Superintendent of Streets was instructed to confer
with the keeper and to cause the arrest and prosecution of all o.ffen-
ders.
Councilman Gossage brought to the attention of the Council,
the condition of Vallejo Street, between Washington and Madison
Streets. At present it is impassable, due to the deposition of
rock and boulders The,'Clerk -was directed to formally notify
parties responsible for the same to have them crushed and the street
made passable.
The matter of the condition of the upper part of Hopper.Street
was discusseci as was also the ir, atter of the over -flow in the tannery
district owing to the railroad company taking out a culvert under
the track through which the water us.ecl to run. to the river. IT
was stated that the railroad company had pr (bmi.sed to gravel that
portion of Hopper Street near .Bridge Street.. Both matrters were
finally referred' to the. Street Committee.
