Mlayor Horwege in the chair. All members present. READING OF JOURIAL. The minutes of a regular meeting of Sept. 7th were read and approved as recorded. SPOT OF OFFICERS. Introduced by Young seconded by Healey. Adopting the report of the Finance Committee an.d directing the Auditor to draw warrants in payment of said.claims. 1 Adopted by seven affirmative votes. IM - 11 PETITIONS AND COI A petition was presented by property owners in the vicinity and adjacent to the lot known as Clay Hill requesting that I. B. Raymond be allowed to proceed as heretofore to reduce. said Clay Hill by blasting. RESOLUTION NO. 1028 C. S,. 0 Introduced by Torr, seconded by 11cCargar. Be it _resolved that the petition of I. B. 11'aymond for the privilege of blasting on his lot at the corner of Howard and Stan- ley Sts. be and the same is hereby granted. As permit to do blasting requires under tine ordinance the approval of five members of the council the Tvla.yor announced that the permit could not be granted. The property owners oaring property on Laurel Ave. presented a petition asking that Wood & Silva be allowed to do the work by private contract according to the terms of contract entered-into Same was granted by the following resolution. RESOLUTION NO. 1030 C. S. Introduced by 111cCar, ar, seconded by Gossage. Granting the petition of certain property owners upon the line of Laurel Ave. to do the street work and improvement thereon by. private contract. Adopted by seven affirmative votes. INTRODUCTION OF ORDINAIXE S. Ordinance No. 140 an ordinance establishing the grade of Hayes Ave. from Hinman St. to the south side of Hillside Boulevard. Ordinance No. 141 establishing the grade of Webster St. from the west line of Hayes give to the southeasterly line of Hillside Tract Both were read for the first,time and the Clerk was directed that after the approval of Name by the street Committee and the City Attorney to have published according to law. MEW BUSINESS. OPENING OF BIDS. The Clerk proceeded to open the bids for the improvement' 1 of Sheldon Street. The following proposals were received. _ J 1 T 671 T. W. S Resolved that the Council hereby rejects all of the said bids except the next herein namedand awards the contract for doing 'the said work and improvement to-the lowest bidder to -wit: R. A. � Giggey at the prices named in his bid. Adopted by seven affirmative votes. RES NO. 1032 C. S.. Introduced by Healey, seconded by Young. Instructing and authorizing the lla.yor to enter into an agreement with Parrott & Co. for the leasing of a Tandem sheet roller. Whereas the certified copy of the judgment in the matter of J. C.. Arthur vs. the City of Petaluma not having been filed at •. least 15 days before the levying of the tax for the ensuing year- Be it therefor resolved tllat no action be taken in said matter. Adopted by seven. affirmative votes. Attorney Howell brought up the matter of the proposed cut in the river above Washington St. from the terminal of the cuts - recently mode to.a point near the railroad bridge. He stated that the Govennment will, no doubt, make the necessary cut provided the City secure the needed land. Also in-regard to the proposed inner harbor or basin, which was tec.ommended by the Governmana officials. The matter I was discussed at length and it was suggested that a committee of three be appointed to interview property owners in order to secure the rights of way for the proposed cut and basin.
