Douglass Schwobeda AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE PURCHASE AND INSTALLATION OF A COMMINUTOR AT THE "B" STREET PUMPING PLANT. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PETALUMA AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. That this City purchase and cause to be installed a comminutor at the "B" Street Pumping Plant, the same to conform with the following specifications: Co m.. Machine Scope ..... Under this specification, the Contractor shall furnish and install, within the comminutor chamber of the existing "B" Street Pumping Plant, one (1) sewage comminitor incl7iding all appurtenant equipment. Manufacture and Size ..... The comminutor shall be as manufactured by the Chicago Pump Company, 1186 Folsom Street, San Francisco, Calif- ornia, and distributed by the E. C. Cooley Company, 625 Market Street, San Francisco, or an equal in design, workmanship and functional characteristics. The machine shall be a self- contained unit provided with a slot opening of not more than one - quarter inch ('A ") in width, and equipped with means of cutting up the sewage solids without removing them from the flow in the comminutor channels. Electric Drive Motor and Control Equipment ..... The comminutor shall be driven by a 3- phase, 60 cycle, 220 0 volt vertical motor of 3/4 H.P. rating as furnished by the manufacturer of the comminutor equipment. The motor and gear reducer shall be mounted integral with the comminutor and shall be direct - connected thereto by means of an extension shaft between the comminutor machine and the motor and bear drive mounted on the floor plate above. The contractor shall furnish and install complete starting and control equipment, together with power and control circuits. Return Elbow ..... The contractor shall furnish and install a return elbow as required by the menufacturer's requirements for controlled submerged discharge conditions. Tests ..... After installation, the contractor shall completely test the comminutor machine under actual working conditions, to the satisfaction of the Engineer. The contractor shall be required to check anchor bolts prior to installation. Section 2 . That said comminutor be purchased and installed pursuant to contract after calling for bids in the manner and form and for the period required by the City Charter. Section 3 . That the cost of said comminutor be paid out of GENERAL Fund and charged against Budget Section 133.520.
