ORDINANCE_ DECLARING THE FOR-
MATION OF PARKING DISTRICT
NO. 1955.1 OF THE CITY OF PETA-
LUMA, DESCRIBING THE PROPER-
TIES TO' BE ACQUIRED, THE
WORK TO BE DONE, AND DIRECT-
ING THAT CONTRACTS BE- OB,
TAINED FOR THE PURCHASE OF
THE.LAND.TO BE ACQUIRED AND
THE BRINGING OF' ANY CON-
DEMNATION ACTION NECESSARY
TO OBTAIN THE ,SAME.
BE IT ORDAINED by the City Coun-
r.il of the - City of Petaluma as ' fol-
Jows:
Section. 1.. ; The City Council of the
City of Petaluma hereby finds the
'following facts to be true:
A..:The City. Council of the City of
Petaluma - did upon the 4th day of
April, 1955; :pass its Resolution of In-
tention. No. 1467 N. C. S. of intention
to establish .a parking district - under
tine' provisions of the Parking District
Law of 1951 of the State of California
which "said °Resolution of Intention was
entitled, "Resolution of Intention To
Establish. A Parking District under the
provisions >of the Parking District Law
ty of Sonoma, State of California ".
Said- Resolutioh of Intention described
he land necessary and convenient to
be taken, the district to be benefited
by the, improvement, the act of the
Legislature 'of, the State of California
under which the' improvement was to

of the City of Petaluma toward the
cost of said work and improvement,
Axed the time .and place for. hearing
of protests; ordered the publication
and mailing of notice thereof. Said
Resolution of Intention' No. 1467

B. The City Council of the City_ of
Petaluma did'on the 9th day of May,
1955, ov any and all protests
a , said'' Resolution of Intention
No. 1467 N. C S. and the formation
of the parking district therein de-
scribed 'and intended to be formed.
Section 2, The City Council of the
City of Petaluma ordains that it now
has acquired' Jurisdiction to ,proceed
in the above 'matter.
Section 3. The City Council of the
City of Petaluma hereby ordains that
the parking district described in said
Resolution- of Intention No. ,1467-
N. C. S. of the City Council of the
City of :Petaluma, passed on- the 4th
day of April,, 1955, Is formed.
Section 4. Said district is hereby
designated 'and named, "Parking Dis-
trict No. 19554 - of the City of Peta-
luma ". The acquisitions which. are to
be made consist of the acquisition of
those °certain Tots, pieces or parcels
of land 'locate,' situate and being in
the City of Petaluma, County of So-
noma; State; of California, and par-

the , City of Petaluma as made by
Jas. T., Stratton; Deputy U. S. Sur -
veyor, :and more particularly de-
scribed 'as- follows: Beginning, at the
southwesterly corner of said Lot 317
which point bears N 22° 40' W a
distance of - 150.3 'feet from the most
northerly corner of the Western

Lot "E ": Being a portion ' of Lot
501 as laid down _upon the official
map of the City of Petaluma in the
County of Sonoma, State of Califor-
nia, as made by Jas T. Stratton,
Esq., the same being` recorded on
Roller No. 5 in the office of the
County Recorder of, said county, and
more particularly described as fol-
lows: Beginning at a point- on' the
northeasterly line of said Lot 501,
said point being 60' northwesterly
of the southeasterly corner of said
lot; thence southwesterly alone a
line parallel to and 60' distant from
the southerly line of said Lot 501 a
distance of 106:0' to a point; thence
northwesterly a distance of 46' to .a
point; thence southwesterly a dis-
tance of 109.7' to a point on the
westerly line, of said Lot 501, said
point being 110' northwesterly from
the southwesterly corner of said Lot
501; thence northwesterly along the
southwesterly -line of said Lot 501 a
distance. of 49.3' to a point; thence
northeasterly' a distance of 215'
more or less, to a,point on the north-
easterly line of said Lot 501, said

Section 5. The improvements which
are to be made consist of the follow-
ing:
On Lot A hereinabove described:
Said lot Is already paved, striped
and metered. It is "proposed to re-
arrange -the parking pattern to
utilize"" the additional 40' to be
acquired; making an, increase from.
,'57 to 64 parking places. New con-
crete wheel bumpers will be con-
structed, tlie meters relocated and
the lot restriped. `"` -
-On Lot B hereinabove described:
- '•This: site ,ls occupied. =hy a 2 -story
frame building in fair--to•poor,condi-
tion. The work' will consist ,of demo-
lition, clearing, grading; paving and
construction of concrete wheel
I . to prepare the -site for
parking.
On Lot C hereinabove- described::
This is a water front improve -
ment'.adjacent to Lot B and will
necessitate the construction of a
concrete bulkhead approximately
5.10' long and the placing of approxi-
mately 4,000 yards of imported fill,
'as ,well as grading, surfacing, con-
struction of concrete bumpers
and- a 3-or 4-foot, chain link fence
on top of the bulkhead.
On Lot D hereinabove described:
This site is at present occupied by
the old City Hall. The work will con-
sist of the demolition, clearing,.
grading, paving and construction of
concrete wheel bumpers.
On Lot E hereinabove described:
This site is occupied by a dwelling
and a shed; The work will.consist of
demolition, clearing, grading, paving
and construction of concrete wheel
bumpers.
Work on all lots will also include
the installation of meters and any-
thing else necessary for the prepay
ration therefor as motor vehicle park-
in; sites. -Reference is hereby made
to 'he report of the City. Engineer
of the City of Petaluma, dated the
30th day of March, 1.955, for com-
plete details as.to all improvements
to be made and 'the estimated costs
thereof.
?ectinn 6. The Special Counsel of the
City -` Petaluma, Mr; Eugene K. Stur-
eis. is hereby directed, in accordance
with the provisions of Section 35400
� the Streets 9: Highways Code of
th.d State of California, to obtain con -
tracts for the purchase of the above -
described land or property or to bring
condemnation actions under the nro-
v;isions of the Parking District Law
of 1951 for the condemnation of the
same.

PETALUMA ARGUS- COURIER which
is the .newspaper. designated in said
lesolution of Intention No. 1467
N. C. S.
Section 8. This Ordinance shall take
effect immediately.
I HEREPY CERTIFY that the fore-
going 'Or'dinance was regularly and
duly adopted by the City Council of
the. City of Petaluma, Sonoma County,
California, at' a regular meeting there-
of; held on the 9th day of May, 1955,
by the following vote, to wit:
AYES: Councilmen Adams, Bige-
low, Brown, Gustafson, Norwood,
Schwobeda, and Mayor Schoeningh,
NOES: None.
ABSENT: None.

circulation, published within the City of Petaluma to -wit May.13,

is the official newspaper of the City of Petaluma.
I, hereby certify that the whole number of members of the
Council of the City of Petaluma is .seven, and that the foregoing
ordinance was passed by the Council at its meeting of the 16th
day of May, 1955, by the following vote, to -wit:
