AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE
ZONINTG ORDINANCE NO. 340 N. C.
S. BY RECLASSIFYING A POR-
TION OF THE AREA KNOWN AS
GUTERMUTE ANNEXATION (EX-
CEPT EASTERLY CORNER OF
McDOWELL ROAD AND EAST
WASHINGTON STREET, 162'.x 150')
FROM A "U" ZONE OR DISTRICT
TO AN 1 '11-3" AND "C -1" ZONE OR
DISTRICT.-
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUN-
CIL OF THE CITY OF PETALUMA,
AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That the City Council
finds that the Planning Commission
filed with the City Council on the
21st day of May, 1956, its report, as
set forth in its Resolution No. 53,
reconnniending the, adoption of an
amendment to the Zoning Ordinance
No. 340 N. C. S. by reclassifying from
a "U" zone or district to an "R -3"
and 11 C -1" zone or district a portion
of the area known as Gutermute An-
nexation (except easterly corner of
McDowell Road_ and East Washington
Street, 162' x 150% as shown on the
map attached to said resolution and
to this ordinance, which said prop-
erty is particularly and specifically
bounded and described as follows,
to wit:
All that certain land situate in
the City of Petaluma, County of
Sonoma, State of California, and
being more particularly described
as follows:
Commencing at the point of in-
tersection of the southeasterly line
of East Washington Street with the
northeasterly line of McDowell
R ;ad; thence south 54° 31' 30" east
and along the northeasterly line. of
McDowell Road 486.84 feet to the
true point of beginning! thence
from said point of beginning north
35 28' 30" east, parallel with East
Washington Street 300 feet to a
point; thence north 54' 31' 30" west
parallel with McDowell. Road 486.84
feet to the southeasterly line of
East Washington Street; thence
north 35° 28' 30" east and along
the southeasterly line of.East Wash -
ton Street 288.79 feet more or less
to a pipe which marks the most
westerly corner of the 27.64 acre
tract of land conveyed to Marie
Gutermute Converse by deed re-
corded August 10, 1955, under Re-
corder's Serial No. E 57440, Sonoma
County records; thence along the
southerly line of said 27.64 acre
tract north 87' 39' east 666.70'feet
to an iron pipe; and north 79° 15'
east 833.79 feet to an iron pipe, and
north 85 21' east 322.67 feet to an
iron pipe; and north 80' 57' east
712.42 feet to a point; said point
being on the southerly line of the
27.69 acre tract conveyed to Carlisle
Smith Gutermute by deed recorded
August 10, 1955, under Recorder's
Serial No. E 57438, Sonoma County
Records: thence south 35' 28' 30"
west 1542 feet more or less to the
northeasterly line of the parcel of
land conveyed to the City of Peta-
liima by deed recorded October 8,
1953, in Book 1233 of Official Rec-
ords, Page 529, Sonoma County
Records; thence along the north-
easterly line of said parcel of land
north 54' 31' 30 west 747:37 feet
to the most northerly corner there -
,f; thence south 35° 28' 30" west
764.27. feet more or less to the
northeasterly line of McDowell
Road: thence north 54' 31' 30" west
and along the northeasterly line
of McDowell Road 999.84 feet more
or less to the point of beginning.
Section 2. The City Council further
finds that said Planning Commission
held a ,hearing on said proposed
amendment to the Zoning Ordinance
No. 340 N. C. S. on the 15th day of
May, 1956, after having given notice
of said hearing in the manner, for
the period and in the form required
by said Ordinance No. 340 N. C. S.,
as amended by Ordinance No. 405
N. C. S.
Section 3. That pursuant to Section
11.15 of said Zoning Ordinance No.
340 N. C. S., as amended by Ordi-
nance No. 405 N. C. S., the City Coun-
cil hereby adopts an amendment to
said Zoning Ordinance No. 340 N. C.
S. so as to reclassify said property
hereinbefore described from a "U"
, one or district to an "R -3" and a
"C -1" zone or district.
Section 4. The City Clerk is hereby
directed to publish this ordinance in
the Petaluma Argus Courier, the of-
ficial newspaper of the City, Includ-
ing said map showing the description
of said property to be reclassified
and rezoned hereunder, for the per-
iod and in the manner required by
the City Charter.

May, 1956.

Petaluma Argus- Courier, a daily paper of general circulation, published within
the City of Petaluma, to -wit: May 25, 1956, and that the said Petaluma Argus-
Courier is the official newspaper of the City of Petaluma.
I hereby certify that the whole number of members of the Council of the
City of Petaluma is seven, and that the foregoing ordinance was passed by the
Council at its meeting of the 28th day of May, 1956, by the following vote, to -wit:
