N ORA AN ORDINANCE MAKING TEMPORARY APPROPRIATIONS FOR CURRENT DEPARTMENT EXPENSES, CHARGEABLE TO THE APPROPRIATIONS OF THE FISCAL YEAR 1956 -57 TO COVER NECESSARY EXPENSES. OF VARIOUS DEPARTMENTS, UNTIL THE ANNUAL APPROPRIATION IS IN FORCE. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PETALUMA AS._FOLLOWS: Section 1 That the City Council has under consideration and study the tentative budget submitted by the City Manager, and has not made its final budget of estimated amounts required to pay the expenses of conducting the business of the City Government for the fiscal year commencing July 1, 1956, and for said reason it has become necessary to make temporary appropria- tions as hereinafter provided for current department expenses chargeable to the appropriation of the fiscal year 1956 -57, said appropriations represent- ing an amount sufficient to cover the necessary expenses of the various departments until the annual appropriation for said fiscal year is in force. Section 2. That` for the purpose expressed in Section 1 hereof appropriations are hereby made from the General Fund of the City'as follows: 1,. GENERAL GOVERNMENT (including all bureaus of the department of Finance & Records, and the Departments of City Attorney, City Manager, Mayor and :City Council, City Planning Commission, Retirement and Miscellaneous and Fixed Expenses) ----------------------------------- - - - - -- $50,000.00 2.. PUBLIC SAFETY AND HEALTH (including the Fire Department and all bureaus of the Police Department) - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 75, 000.00 3. RECREATION (including the Public Library and all bureaus of the Recreation Departmenty -------------- 30, 000.00 4. PUBLIC WORKS (or bureaus of the Department of Public Works) ------------------------------------- - - - - -- 75,000.00 (1) 07 I Section 3. That for the purposes expressed in Section 1 hereof, an appropriation is hereby made from the Debt Service Fund in the sum of $15,000,00. Section 4. That for the purposes expressed in Section 1 hereof an appropriation is hereby made from the Contingency Reserve Fund in the sum of $5, 000.00. Section 5. That for the purposes expressed in Section 1 hereof, an appropriation is hereby made from the Emergency Reserve Fund in the sum of $2, 000.00. Section 6. That for the purposes expressed in Section 1 hereof,' an appropriation is hereby made from the Equipment Replacement Fund in the sum of $4, 000.00. Section 7. That for the purposes expressed in Section 1 hereof,,, an appropriation is hereby made from the Parking Meter in the Sum of $2, 000,00. Section 8. That for the purposes expressed in Section 1 hereof, an appropriation is hereby made from the Stock Revolving Fund in the sum. - of $1,000.00. Section 9. That for the purposes expressed in Section 1 hereof, an appropriation is hereby made from the Special Gas Tax Street Improvement Fund in the sum of $4, 000. 00. Seetion 10. That for the purposes expressed in Section 1 hereof, an appropriation is hereby made from the 1953 Sewage Construction Fund in the sure of $2, 000. Section 11. That for the purposes expressed in Section 1 hereof, an appropriation is hereby made from the Assessment District #2 Fund in the sum of $5, 000.00. Section 12. That for the purposes expressed in Section 1 hereof, an appropriation is hereby made from the Off - Street Parking Acquisition 195.5 =1 Fund in the sum of $5; 000.00. (2) ;z Section 13. This ordinance is hereby declared to be necessary for the :immediate preservation of the public peace, health and safety of the City of Petaluma,- and shall take effect and be in force from and after its final passage ,by an unanimous vote of the members of the City Council present at the tim- e of its adoption. The reason for the urgency of this ordinance is due primarily to the fact that there are no moneys appropriated for the ordinary- running expenses of the City at the beginning of-the fiscal year, 1956-57,' and that the passage of this ordinance is necessary to carryon the functions of the City and particularly those relating to protection of life, property and health.
