ADAMS AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SEC- TION 3 OF THE ORDINANCE NO. 272 N. C. S. TO AUTHORIZE THE EXTENSION OF TIME WITHIN WHICH TO COMMENCE CON- STRUCTION OF AN ARMORY BY THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA FOR THE CALIFORNIA NATIONAL GUARD. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUN- CIL OF THE CITY OF PETALUMA AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. That Section 3 of Ordi- nance No. 272 N. C. S. be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows, to wit: "Section 3. That upon the com- pletion of said sale, the City Man- ager be, and he is hereby authorized and directed, to negotiate with the office of Adjutant General of the State of California, for the transfer and conveyance of said property to the State of California, upon the condition that said State of Califor- nia will commence construction of a State Armory on said premises within -six •(6) years from the date of said conveyance, and will thereafter pros- ecute such construction to completion within due diligence, and that upon the failure to so commence construc- tion of said State Armory within said period, title thereto shall revert to the City of Petaluma as the grantor of said deed. That upon the com- pletion of said negotiations for said transfer of said property to the State of California, the Mayor and the City Clerk be, and they are hereby au- thorized and directed to execute and \ attest respectively, and cause the seal of the City to be affixed to a deed conveying said property to the State of California upon said conditions." Section 2. This ordinance is urgent- ly necessary for the reason that Or- dinance No. 272 N. C. S. provided for a reversion which became effective March 19, 1957 and the State of Cal- ifornia Military Department was un- able to commence construction of said Armory prior to March 19, 1957. The State of California is now prepared to proceed with the project and have the same let out to bid as soon as the reversion is extended for an addition- al three years. For said reasons this ordinance shall go into effect upon its adoption by the unanimous vote of the councilmen present at the meeting when such ordinance is adopted.
