HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 98-084 05/18/1998 1 Resolution No. oR_~ N.C.S. 1 of the City of Petaluma, California 2 3 4 RESOLUTION OF INTENT TO CONTINUE PETALUMA 5 AMBULANCE SERVICE IN SONOMA COUNTY 6 EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICE AREA #8 7 8 9 WHEREAS, the County of Sonoma is in the process of its Emergency Medical System redesign; 10 and, 11 12 WHEREAS, the County of Sonoma has requested formal communications from the City of 13 Petaluma, all other Sonoma County cities and fire districts in regards to the redesign process; 14 and, 15 16 WHEREAS, the City of Petaluma operates an ambulance service; and, 17 18 WHEREAS, the Ambulance Service has been operated by the City of Petaluma Fire Department 19 for over thirty years; and, 20 21 WHEREAS, the area served by the City of Petaluma Ambulance Service is currently referred to 22 as Sonoma County Emergency Medical Service Area #8 or EMSA #8; and, 23 24 WHEREAS, the citizens and visitors of this area benefit from the professional and high quality 25 medical and rescue services provided by the City of Petaluma Ambulance Service; and, 26 27 WHEREAS, the City of Petaluma has clearly demonstrated its rights to operate the Petaluma 28 Ambulance Services under protection of sections of the Health and Safety Code; 29 30 31 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of Petaluma clearly states the desire 32 and intent to continue to operate the City of Petaluma-Ambulance Services in the same area as 33 served for the past thirty years, and not to be included in the Sonoma County Ambulance 34 Franchise Area, nor to have our level of service diminished by county actions. 35 36 5/6/98 a:\resolu[ion\emsa8res pg Under the power and authority conferred upon this Council by the Charter of said City. h'EFERENCE: I hereby certify the foregoing Resolution was introduced and adopted by the Approved as to Council of the City of Petaluma at a (Regular)~(Ij~il~K~#1) meeting form on the 18th..........-.... day of ....._May.--"-------~--.._.---'-"-----.-......., 1~-g-----~ by the following vote: City Attorney AYES: KELLER; TORLIATT, HAMILTON, READ, VICE MAYOR MAGUIRE, MAYOR HILLIGOSS LACES: NONE ABSENTSTOMPE ~ _ _ fi~y ~ ~ ATTEST: _ ../.Y .,.....~~~KI?-~ G~-------- City Clerk Mayor Comcil Fil~.g--~&.........._..........
