AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 15 OF THE PETALUMA
CITY CODE OF 1958 BY AMENDING ARTICLE IV, DIVISION 1,
SECTION 15.49 THEREOF TO PROHIBIT PARKING UPON SIDE-
WALKS OR PEDESTRIAN WALKWAYS'; AMENDING SECTION
15.54 TO PROVIDE', FOR ANGLE PARKING AND AMENDING
SECTION 15.60 TO AUTHORIZE IMPOUNDING VEHICLES
PARKED ON SIDEWALKS OR PEDESTRIAN WALKWAYS.
q NOW, . THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF PETA -LUMA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Chapter 15, Article :IV, Div ision 1, Section .15.49
is hereby amended to read as follows-
It shall be unlawful to park a vehicle at any of the following places:
(a). Within fifteen feet from a fire hydrant, except for fire equip-
..
ment while attending a fire, and except Where a licensed operator is
occupying and in control of the, vehicle. Such latter exception shall not
apply, however, in a red zone.
(b) In a taxicab stand, except a taxicab licensed. to occupy such
stand.
(c) In a bus stop zone, except a licensed bus for the purpose of
taking on or discharging passengers.
(d) On. any sidewalk or pedestrian easement or walkway.
(e) On off- street public property unless an official traffic device
Section 2. Chapter 15, Article IV, Divison 1, Section 15.54 is
hereby amended to read as

or sign indicates that such action is permissible.
(f) In any red zone, except as otherwise provided in section 15. 67
of this Code.
(g). In any loading zone, except for the purpose of loading or
unloading passengers or materials..
(h) In any passenger loading zone, except for the purpose of
loading or unloading passengers and their baggage.
(i) In any alley, except for the purpose of loading or unloading
persons or materials in such alley, and for not longer than twenty
minutes. for such loading or unlaoding purposes.
(j) In any limited time parking space for a number of consecutive
minutes greater than the number of minutes legally permitted.

(k) Within eight feet from an intersection in the parking meter
district or within such distance from any intersection with a through
street.
(1) It shall be unlawfull for any person to park a motorvehicle upon
any private - property, or upon property ueed for private parking purposes,
without the consent of the owner of such property, the person entitled to
the possession thereof for the time being or the authorized atent
of either, provided that signs specifying conditions under which parking
is permitted shall have been posted at all entrances to such property.
Such: sighs shall be approved both as to-working and posting by the

police department of the city.
Section 2. Chapter 15, Article IV, Divison 1, Section 15.54 is
hereby amended to read as

Vehicles may be parked at an angle to the curb in those
areas within the city which have parking spaces marked for
Angle parking.
Vehicles parked at' an angle in authorized angle parking
spaces shall, be so placed that. the front wheel shall rest against
the curb, and shall be faced in the direction of the traffic on the
side of the street where parked.
Section 3 . Chapter` 15, Article IV, Division 1, Section 15. 60 is
hereby amended to read as follows:
The chief of police is hereby authorized and empowered to
cause any vehicle to be towed away and impounded either in a
public or provate :garage, or in any other place, determined by
him, whenever such vehicle has been parked in violation of
any regulation prohibiting:
(a) The parking of a vehicle so as to prevent access to a
driveway;
(b) The parking of a vehicle upon siddwalks or pedestrian
walkways;
(c) The parking within a taxi stop or bus stop zone;
(d) The parking of vehicles outside of the marked boundaries of a
parking spcae;
(e) Any regulation imposed by the chief of police for the purpose
of clearing a, street, or portions thereof, in preparation for a parade,
or other public - use ; providing "no parking signs" have been erected
for a period of not less than two hours;
(f) Parking on one -way streets';
(g) Parking at an angle to the curb;
(h) Parking parallel to the curb;
(i) Parking on or near a railroad track.
The chief of police 'is further authorized to permit vehicles impounded
under this section to be released to the owner of driver thereof, upon the
payment of all charges incurred for twoing and impounding the same, which
payment shall not relieve the person responsible for such violation from any
any penalties hereunder upon conviction for such violation.
