1 RESOLUTION OPPOSING AB 1776 AND SUPPORTING ACA 42

4 WHEREAS, the State Legislature is considering AB 1776 and similar legislation to repeal the Motor
5 Vehicle License Fee (VLF), and;

7 WHEREAS, cities and counties are allocated a large portion of the VLF revenue collected, and;
8
9 WHEREAS, the allocation of this revenue source is stable and currently fixed by the State Constitution,
10 and;
11
12 WHEREAS, the proposal to replace this revenue source with the State portion of the sales taxis subject
13 to the annual State Budget process, and;
14
15 WHEREAS, ACA 42 is a League of California Cities sponsored constitutional amendment which secures
16 the allocation of various revenue sources to local governments.

18 NOW, THEREFORBE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council hereby opposes AB 1776 and similar
19 legislation that would reduce secure local government revenue sources and weaken the independence of
20 local governments:

22 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Council hereby supports ACA 42 which will secure any
23 further weakening of local government revenue allocations from the State.
Under the power and authority conferred upon this Council by She Charter of said City.
