BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUN-
CIL OF THE CITY OF PETALUMA,
AS T. ;OLLOWS:
Section 1. That the City Council
finds , that the Planning Commission
filed with the City - Council ton the
20th tray of April, 1959, its .report_, as
set forth in its Resolution No. 90,
recommending the adoption of an
amendment to the 'Zoning Ordinance
No. 340 N. C. S. by reclassifying and
: ezoning from an "R -1" `pone or dis-
t uct to an "R -3" zone or district As-
sessor's Parcel No. 7- 023 -1 located on
the i'orthwest corner of Ellis and
East Washington Streets, as shown
on the map attached' to said reso-
lution' and' to this ordinance, which
said property is particularly and sp6-
cifically bounded and described as
follows, to wit:

Section 2. The Citv Council further
finds that said' Planning 'Commissio"n-
held a hearing on said proposed

No. 340 N. C. S. on April 15 1959,

hearing in the manner;, for the 'period
- in the form, required by said
Ordinance 'No.340 N. C. Sr; as amend-
ed by Ordinance No. 405 N. ,C: S.
Sr ytion 3 That pursuant to 'Section
1.1.1.5 of said Zoning Ordinance No. 340
N. C S:. as amended by Ordinance
No 4 05 N. C. S., the City's Council,
hereby adonts an amendment to said
Zoning Ordinance No. 340 N. C. S.
so as to reclassify and rezone said
property hereinbefore described from
an "R -1" zone or district to an "R -3"
zone or district.
Section 4. Thi& ordinance shall be-
come .effective upon its passage by
the unanimous vote of the members
present at the time of the -adoption.
This Council finds that this ordinance
is necessary for the immediate pres-
ervation of the public peace, health
and safety for the reason that it will
permit the immediate construction of
multiple, housing units in this area
in sufficient time to alleviate the
housing shortage usually and normal-
ly found at the beginning of the
s7ch`ool year.
Section 5. The City Clerk is hereby .
directed to publish this ordinance in
the Petaluma -Argus. Courier, the of-
ficial newspaper of the City, including
said map showing the description of
said property to be reclassified and
rezoned hereunder. for the period
apart in the manner required by the
City Chanter.

April 1959. -
