N.C.S. of the City of Petaluma, California 1 ESTABLISHING 1998 RESIDENTIAL DEVELOPMENT OBJECTIVES 2 3 WHEREAS, the City's Growth Management System requires the City Council to set a Development Objectives each year for applicable new residential projects; and, 5 6 WHEREAS, the purpose of Development Objectives is to proactively inform the development 7 community of the City's expectations for new residential projects subject to the growth 8 management system; and, 9 )o WHEREAS, the Development Objectives are advisory and not. binding on any project; however, a ~ t project's compliance with Development Objectives will be used by the City Council as a means of lz determining the number of allocations, if any, a project may receive; and, 13 1~ WHEREAS, the Development Objectives are not intended to supersede the policies of the is Petaluma General Plan, but rather be compatible with them, and all residential projects are 1~ expected from the outset to satisfy General Plan policies applicable to the project. 17 1s NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Petaluma City Council hereby sets the 19 following Development Objectives (in order of priority) for the 1998 calendar year: 20 zl 1. Alternatives to single family production homes, such as self-help, rentals, mixed use and 22 high density housing proximate to commercial services and transit, smaller-sized housing z3 units (including units appropriate for singles, single parent families, and couples without 24 children), and units accessible for people with disabilities. zs z~ 2. Housing affordable to households earning 100 percent or less of the county median 27 income (i.e., "moderately priced homes"). 2R 29 3.
