DATE: June 17, 2019 TO: FROM: SUBJECT Agenda Item #4.A Honorable Mayor and Members of the City Council through the City Manager Samantha Pascoe, Acting City Clerk Resolution Appointing Individuals to City Commissions and Committees RECOMMENDATION It is recommended that the City Council adopt the attached Resolution Appointing Individuals to City Commissions and Committees. Terms are expiring June 30, 2019 for members of various City Commissions and Committees. Additionally, there are unexpired terms on the Airport Commission, Public Art Committee, and Transit Advisory Committee due to resignations. DISCUSSION The deadline for applications was Thursday, June 6, 2019, at 5:00 p.m. The Petaluma Area Pilots Association (PAPA) and Petaluma Museum Association/ Heritage Homes and Landmarks of Petaluma Committee were asked to provide letters recommending an individual for appointment as their representative to the Airport Commission and Historic and Cultural Preservation Committee, respectively. As of June 6, 2019, we received a letter of recommendation for the Historic and Cultural Preservation Committee only. In previous years, the Youth Commission has provided a list of new youth appointees for Council's ratification. The Commission has elected to delay this process to the start of the school year. PUBLIC OUTREACH Press releases were sent to the Petaluma Argrrs-Courier and Press Democrat. The attached "Get Involved" flyer was distributed at City Hall, the Petaluma Community Center, and the Petaluma Library. Information was posted to the City's website and Facebook page, and on NextDoor. The openings were advertised on the Petaluma Community Access (PCA) channel as well. Announcements were sent through the City's Listserve. Email notices were sent to current members with terms expiring June 30th, encouraging them to apply for reappointment, or appointment to another body. FINANCIAL IMPACTS Costs are limited to staff time to prepare materials for the recruiting of volunteers and are contained within the operating budget. ATTACHMENTS l .
