SUBJECT: PCDC Resolution Accepting Completion of the. Construction Contract for the
Caulfield Lane Ektesioii.At -Grade Railroad Crossing
It is recommended that the PCDC adopt the attached 'PCDC resolution accepting completion of
the construction contract for the Caulfield Lane'Extension At -Grade Railroad Crossing Project.
The Public Works Department prepared plans and specifications for this project. Bids were
opened on March 24, 2010, and on May'17, 2010, the PCDC awarded the construction contract
to North iBay Construction, Inc. ( "Contractor "), who'.has satisfactorily completed the
construction contract for $336,173.70. The estimated total cost ofthe'project, including
{
construction contract construction managementand inspection, design, administration and
overhead, is $440,000.
This project extends Caulfield Lane Extension, from: its currentterminus to Hopper Street, and
includes; a new at -grade railroad.crossing, along" with1he closure of 'Hopper Street
connecti,on/access to Lakeville .-Street.
Per contract requirements, retention will be released, within sixty days after Council acceptance
of this project.

DISCUSSION
Staff rec. nimerids accepting completion of the construction contract, ,since North Bay
Construction Inc. has'filfilled all contract requirements. Approval of this resolution will assure
release of retention to the Contractor.

FINANCIAL IMPACTS
The estimated total cost of the project, including construction contract, construction management
and inspiection, design, administration, sand overhead, is $440,000.. A total project budget of
$458,644.50 from PCDC funds was authorized by PCDC Resolution -07' on May 17, 2010.
The unused budget will be returned" to PCDC funds for future use.

IHEREAS, PCDC staffhave inspected the Project and determined that it has been

and other obligations pursuant to the contract; and
WHEREAS, based on - the foregoing, staff recommends acceptance of the Project on
behalf of the City;
OW, 'THEREFORE, BE I`I' RESOLVED by the PCDC as follows:
1. The contract entitled Caulfield Lane Extension At -Grade Railroad Crossing, Project
No. C01200104, with the final contract amount of $336,173.70, is accepted as
complete, subject to the Contractor's continuing warranty and other obligations
pursuant to the contract.
2. The City Clerk/Recording Secretary is hereby authorized and directed to file a Notice
of Completion concerning the Project.with the Sonoma County Clerk's Office within
ten (10) days of the date of this Resolution.
Staff are hereby- authorized and directed to release. all undisputed retention not subject
to pending change orders within sixty (60) days of the date of this Resolution and in
accordance with the terms of the Project contract; California Public Contract Code
Section 7,107 and applicable law.
