Agenda Item #5.B
January 6, 2020
Honorable Mayor and Members of the City Council' a =`-
Peggy Flynn, City Manager
Resolution Approving City Council Liaison Appointments for 2020
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council adopt the attached Resolution Approving City Council
Liaison Appointments for 2020.
BACKGROUND
The process for Council appointments is outlined in the City Council's Rules, Policies &
Procedures. Per Section VII.G., the Mayor notifies the Councilmembers and/or
Councilmembers-elect by December I" of each year of all upcoming openings for Council
representation on City, County, regional and other outside commissions. By the end of
December, Councilmembers advise the Mayor of those positions they would be interested in
serving on for the upcoming calendar year.
Although the Rules specify that the appointments will be made at the second regular Council
meeting in January, these appointments have typically been made at the first meeting of the new
year so that those boards and commissions requiring representation will have a member of
Council available to attend their January meetings.
The Mayor's recommendations are attached for the Council's consideration and confirmation at
the January 6th Council meeting.
PUBLIC OUTREACH
This agenda item appeared on the City's tentative agenda document on December 16, 2019
which was a publicly -noticed meeting.
