Associate Planner APPROVAL. OF MINUTES: '.The minutes of July 2, 1974 were-approved as .,submitted . CORRESPONDENCE: The Commission was advised that a letter had been received from.the,.County of Sonoma Department of Mental Health'5ervices expressing appreciation for calling to their "Attention the unattractive appearance of their administrative offices in Petaluma and advising that they would take imme- diate steps to rectify the situation. Mr. Gray advised that another person, who had been .sent _a similar letter at . the direction of the Commission regarding the appearance of a site, :had indicated thatt he.,.-felt ,it would be better in the future to make an.informal: phone call rather than.to write a letter when coopera- tive effort was desired.. Mr. Gray advised the Commission that in the future both forms of communication, would •be used. * * * * * The ..Comm" ssion was reminded of the. signs that had' `been. removed at the rear of the Petaluma Plaza Shopping Center .at their request. and of the fact that aft iden tlfii cation, ,.sign for the shopping center. oh-the, .rear - .of' the building had been suggested "by the Commission at that time: Mr. Gray advised that a variance request had been received for an identification sign, identical in- design to the free- standing sign for the shopping center,,, to.,be painted on the rear of the building. This.sign would be visible from East Washington,Street and...South McDowell Blvd.. The Commisson..agreed that the Director..of Community should handle this matter administratively. He further advised that :the property owners of the McNe'ar peninsula and. surrounding properties' would be invited to attend this study-session.
