N.C.S. of the City of Petaluma, California 1 RESOLUTION APPROVING USE OF 2 SUPPLEMENTAL LAW ENFORCEMENT SERVICES FUNDS 3 FOR FISCAL YEAR 97-98 4 5 WHEREAS, the State has adopted legislation to provide supplemental law enforcement funds for the 6 Citizens Option for Public Safety (COPS) Program, and; 7 8 WHEREAS, funds are required to be placed in a special fund called Supplemental Law Enforcement 9 Services Fund (SLESF) and are to be used to supplement front line municipal police services, and; 10 11 WHEREAS,. the City Council is required to hold a public hearing on the use of the funds each year, 12 and; 13 14 WHEREAS,. a public hearing was noticed and held on October 6, 1997 at 7:00 PM, and;. . 15 16 WHEREAS, the City Manager and Police Chief have recommended that the FY 97-98 funding be used 17 for the development and acquisition of a Computer Aided Dispatch/Records Management System/Mobile Data 18 Communications System (CAD/RMS/MDCS), and; 19 20 WHEREAS, the City has joined other Sonoma County Cities and the County to develop a countywide 21 compatible system and secure additional Federal funds fo implement, and; 22 23 WHEREAS, a Supplement Law Enforcement Oversight Committee (SLEOC) has been established in 24 Sonoma County according to the requirements of State law and has reviewed the recommended use of the FY 25 97-98 funds. 26 27 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council that: 28 29 1. The FY 97-98 allocation from the State of Californiafor the Supplemental Law Enforcement 30 Scrvices is to be used for the development and acquisition of a Computer Aided Dispatch/Records Management 31 System/Mobile Data Communications System (CAD/RMS/MDCS). 32 33 2. The FY 97-98 allocation is to be accounted for in the Supplemental Law Enforcement Services 34 Fund and; as allowed by State Law, up to .5% of the allocation may be used for administrative costs. Under the power and authority conferred upon this Council by the Charter of said City.
