HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 97-260 10/06/1997 RESOLUTION NO. 97_ZSO N.C.S. of the City of Petaluma, California 4 5 APPROVING TI-IE CENTRAL PETALUMA SPECIFIC PLAN ADVISORY COMMITTEE'S 6 RECOMMENDATION TO RETAIN THE RAILROAD MAINLINE IN ITS CURRENT 7 LOCATION AND LOCATE "1'HE BUS'fRANSFER STATION ADJACENT TO THE 8 EXISTING DEPOT BUILDINGS 9 10 I I WHEREAS, the City of Petaluma General Plan identifies the need to properly plan for the 12 development and redevelopment of the area surrounding the downtown; and, 13 14 WHEREAS, on June 17, 1996, the City Council of the Ciry of Petaluma authorized the I5 preparation of a Specific Plan/EIR for the area generally referred to as Central Petaluma and 16 created the Central Petaluma Specific Plan Advisory Committee as the working committee to 17 create the Specific Plan; and, Is 19 WHEREAS, on August 5, 1997, the CPSP Advisory Committee focused on the issues of location 20 of the Railroad Mainline and, location of the Bus Transfer Station and concluded that the 21 mainline should be retained in its current location 'along Lakeville and the Bus Transfer Station 22 should be located directly adjacent to the existing Depot Buildings as close to the west side of 23 the buildings as feasible; and, ?a 25 ~ 'WHEREAS, on September 15, 1997, the City Council of the City of Petaluma considered the 26 recommended plan from the CPSP Advisory Committee for purposes of providing direction to 27 staff for the Flood Control Project and the Bus Transfer Station project, antl provide direction to 28 the Committee on future land use and circulation planning for the Specific Plan area. 29 30 NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council directs staff to retain the railroad 31 mainline in its current location for purposes of continuing land use and circulation planning for 32 the Central Petaluma Specific Plan; and, 33 34 NOW, TI-IEREFORE, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council directs staff to begin 35 negotiations with the Northwest Pacific Raih~oad Authority to locate. the Bus. Transfer Station 36 adjacent to the Depot Buildings- 37 3$ a:Avcsrr2\rrdirres Under the power and authority conferred upon this Council by the Charter of said City.
