Regular meeting Of the Petaluma C ity R.fanning Cornmiss'ion was held on
June, 15 '1971, at.7:30 o'clock p.m. in the Council chambers, City Hall,
'Petalumal,, California.

CORRESPONDENCE
Archaeological Sites/General Plan
Mr. MC'Givern read a leityterreceived from Tom King, Legislative Co-
ordina'itor, Dept.. of Ant hropology,U.C.,'Riverside, requesting the
Planning Commission to explore possible policies for the protection
and development.of archaeological sites'within the Petaluma Planning
Area.! The Commission directed the staff to forward a copy of the
letter to the Historical Society of Petaluma and to Williams & Mo-
dine,�planning consultants retained by the City to update the General
Plan.

WESLEY BAILEY extension of time for the tentative map of Cambridge
REZONE (q,- Square. (Sept. 18, 1971 is the expiration date of
the tentative map). Mr. Burnstein indicated he dif-
fered with the City Attorney's interpretation of the
State Map Act; more specifically, Sections 11554 and
11555. It was his contention a tentative map may be
continued for two years. The City's Subdivision
Ordinance limits the time extension to 1a months.
Mr. McG'ivern concurred with Mr. Burnstein's inter-
pretation of the State Map Act.
After further discussion, the Commission directed*
the applicant to submit a formal request in writing
to the Commission for an extension of six months
time within which to file the final map of Cambridge
Square 'Subdivision. (The motion was - introduced by
Comm. Brunner, seconded by Comm. Waters and passed
by all members present) .
A motion to continue the rezoning application, Z5 -71,
indefinitely, or at the discretion of the Commission,
was introduced by Comm. Brunner, seconded by Comm.
Cerini and passed by all members present.
• WESTGATE REALTY The Commission continued the public hearing for a use
--ItSE PERMIT permit filed by Westgate Realty to allow two multi -
U19-71 family dwelling structures (with three dwelling units
in each structure) to be located in a transitional
zone at 508 Kentucky Street. Consideration of this
application was continued from May 4, 1971 and June
1, 1971, to allow the applicant time to redesign the
.parking.and driveway layout;, and locating the dwel-
ling_ units on one side of the site.
Mr. MCG1Vern advised the Commission the resubmitted
plans have been revised substantially resulting in
a more feasible plan. Precise plans will be submitted
to the Board of Zoning Adjustments for site design
approval. Chairman Stanley closed the public hearing.
A motion,'approving the requested use permit, U19 -71,
with the conditions listed in the staff report, was
introduced by Comm. Brunner, seconded by Comm. Waters,
and passed unanimously by all members present.
CASA GRANDE #3 The Commission considered the final map approval re-

RES. 19 -71 Mr. McGivern read a letter received from David A. Young,
.Director of Public Works and City Engineer, recommend-
ing approval of the map subject to.the provision that
the subdivider prepare a parcel map which would combine
both Parcel "Y ".and Parcel "X" with the adjoining
properties. The: preparation of this parcel map will
comply with the requirements of the tentative map to

A motion approving the final map of Casa Grande #3
as outlined in the letter from the City Engineer, was
introduced by Comm. Cerini; seconded by Comm. Brunner
and passed by all members present.

at 1274 Ely Road South, Petaluma.
Because the site is within the General Plan area of influence and
in an area which is anticipated to be developed in the near future,
thePlanning Commission directed the staff to forward a letter to
the;Sonoma County Planning Commission requesting that the rezoning
notbe granted. (Motion introduced by Comm. Cerini, seconded by
Comm. Waters and approved by all members present.)
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further'business to come before the Commission, the
.meeting was adjourned.
