The minutes for.the. meeti.ng_of 19, 1971, were
approved subject to the following correction.made to

Extension of Moratorium on Annexations and
Due to the additional time needed by the'Planning.Study
Committees and the.P.lanning, Commission to conduct public
hearings on.the planning. studies -now being prepared by.
Williams -& Mocine,.the Commission unanimously..voted to
forward a recommendation to the.City_Council to'extend,
., the moratorium on annexations and rezonings for ;90'days
or. -until such time the..ordinances.prepared by,..the'Con
sultants become. laws.

Chamber of Commerce
Mr.'McGivern read a copy of letter addressed.-to the Mayor.
from the Greater Petaluma.Area.Chamber. of Commerce (signed
by Art Lafranchi; President). The 'letter was a general
comment communication and the Chamber's of=ficial reply to.
the Environmental ,Design.Plan- for,the.City,of Petaluma. The
Chamber strongly.re,commended,that no action-be taken to re -.
duce industrial acreage - currently available.- A -copy of'.
the letter will be forwarded to the Planning Co-'nsultants;
Williams & and to each_-Committee "Chairman of the.
study groups reviewing.the Environmental Design.Plan.

The Annual Commission Dinner was•.scheduled for -10,

Christian Church-Site, 417 Western Avenue
Comm.. Balshaw asked the status of the- .existng_Christian.
Church located I at.417 Western Avenue (with reference to-
prese,rvation of historic buildings,•etc.).- Mr. McGivern
said the site has been purchased by the -and is being_
leased "back to the church for their use. No immediate --use.

Preservation . -of Trees
Comm: Balshaw - expressed a desire to adopt an ordinance to
preserve.existing trees.
Golden -Gate Transit. System
The Planning Director.informed the Commission he had.contacted
the•Golden .Gate..Bridge Authorities iegarding-the
of their new ".transit line which will,oper.ate from Santa
to the Golden Gate Bridge. The actual take over date will be
December.6; 1971. The terminal will"be*the.present.facilities
of the Greyhound'Lines. There -wild be.a 60 -day time period
when, the• - new transit -autheri.ties will explore other terminal

justments indicating opposition to the requested variance.
