a GRANTING APPROVAL FOR OUTSIDE WATER SERVICE FOR
5 PLACEMENT OF FIRE HYDRANTS ON
6 PURRINGTON ROAD

]o WHEREAS, the City of Petaluma adopted a policy regarding water service outside the
I I City limits and adopted Sphere of Influence; and
12 WHEREAS, said policy does not specifically address water connection options for public
13 safety facilities within the Sphere of Influence: and
I4 WHEREAS, said policy provides for consideration for certain requests by the City
u Council: and
16 WHEREAS, a number of residents and property owners along Purrington Road have
I7 requested an outside water service to allow placement of two fire hydrants for fire protection on
18 Purrington Road; and
I9 WHEREAS, the Director of Engineering. Planning Director and the Firc Chief have
20 reviewed the request and offered recommendations to the City Counci] regarding the request for
21 fire hydrants; and
22 WHEREAS, on November 17, 1997, the City Council considered the request and heard
23 all written and oral testimony regarding same.
24 NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that staff is hereby directed to approve the
25 outside water service to serve two fire hydrants on Purrington Road, based a~ the following
26 findings and subjectto conditions set forth below:

30 1. That circumstances of assisting the provision of adequate fire suppression services
31 justify the granting of an outside water service for fire Irydrants.
32 2. That no growth inducing impacts will result from this connection as policy is
33 hereby determined to permit only fire hydrants for emergency/public safety uses.

I 3: That no adverse~impact to existing or anticipated fiiture domestic and/or fire Mows
2 needs will be experienced by these improvements.
3 Conditions:
4 l . All tees associated with connection and fire hydrant installation and outside water
5 service/standby charges shall be•paid by the applicants.
