Commissioner City Staff° Robert E APPROVAL OF MINUTE Gibbs, King, Lane, Stanley Popp Byrd, Director of Planning Tie minutes for the meetings of April 17 and April 19, 1962 were approved as mali led out. AS R. GRIFFIN PUBLIC HEARING. - V F, NO. V1 - 62 The Planning Commission conducted the public hearing for variance appli- cation #2893 filed by Thomas R. Griffin, to al: ow a substandard lot _ on Parcel //I of the proposed subdivision of A.P. //8 located at 524 Sixth Street. Mr. Griffin plans t.o construct duplexes on the property. A staff report was presented and the'Chairman called for expression from thY floor. -Commissioner King noted that this area Is proposed as R-1 in the new Zoning Ordinance submitted by Livingston & Blayney (at present study by the Council and Planning Commission). Pl,annind Director Byrd stated that Mr. Griffin was anxious to start bu.11ding prior to the adoption of the Zoning 14 di . nance. Acting chairman 9 John Kin g, asked if anyone In the audience wanted voice any comments regard this variance. There was no opposition ex® pressed.. Resolution No. VI-62, recommending that the City Council grant this variance request, was then Introduced by Commissioner Stanley and seconded by C ommissioner Lane and was passed unanimously by all members present. HALIS SHELL SERVICE USE PERMIT, FILE NO. U18­62 v The Planning Commission reviewed Use ' Permit Application #2912 filed by Harold Lehnhard to install a sign on the freeway approximately y mile north of Denman Interchange. A-staff report was presented. Mr. Byrd gave a brief summary the sign ordinance. It was the feeling of the Commissioners that a review of the sign ordinance should be made and to discourage use permit applications for signs on the freeway until the ne I w zoning ordinance Is adopted. Resolution U18-62, granting the use permitp was then Introduced by Commissioner Stanley and seconded by Commissioner Lane and was unanimously passed by all members present. MARIA DRIVE DEVELOPMENT REQUESTED BY THE WATER COMMISSION V 1 It was the unanimous opinion of the C ' ommissioners to recommend to the Water Commission that there is no need for a street to be established between the Bernard E. Eldredge School and the proposed new site for the Christian Church (presently owned by the Water Company). The Commissioners a . greed that a church in this area would be a very congenial development. I �IAMBER OF COMMERCE REQUEST FOR BUS STAND FOR TWO ROCK STATION Plan,nin . g Director Robert Byrd presented the request of the Chamber of Comm'erce to find a locatton for a bus shelter for the soldiers riding the Army'bus to Two Rock Ranch Station. Several locations were suggested but a - - I PI ' anning Commission Ma M � 8 1962 , io final site was not agreed_.upon at this time and the request was held over pending further study,.a§ to 'lotation etc. CHERRY VALLEY SCHOOL SITE RECOMMENDAT V :Members of the Board of Education were pre'sent to go over the proposed Cherry Valley School Site with the Planning Comm1s'sioners. Present were Dr. Win. Patterson, Dave King., Clarence Hansen, Sol Fishman Clay Thompson. Also present were Dr. Manning, Dr. Lionell. Olsen., Lesly Meyer and Richard Goff. The' Commission had pr�ev expr*es c6ndern because Cherry St. Is a narrow substandard road and that the site would block the extension of Cherry Street to Schuman La Dr. Patterson the Commission that the site is about the best that could be found in the area, and that It ties In satisfactorily with the adjoin Ing C'ift : nabar ' District. Dr. Manning gave the assurance, insofar as possible,,, that the school au _�uld cooperate'at such times as the city starts the Cherry Street Improvement program. After further discu ' tmotion lon, a motion was made by Commissioner ., Lane seconded by Commissioner Stanley and passed by all members present to approve the proposed'school site.
