' public hearing on the rezoning application filed by Eugene McGill & Locke Plbg. Co., Inc, to re- zone the entire bl6dk bound by Kent, Walnut, and Oak Streets from Rmil to R-3. Commissioner ' G.ib.b's asked the Planner if the petitions wnich had previously been submitted had been checked. Mr. Byrd informed th:7 Commission that the clerk had contacted the petitioners who had sigr­�d the original petition favorihg the requested rezoning and who later signed a petition requesting that the rezoning be denied. In each case the clerk was t o l d that at the t 1 me they signed the f irst p e t i t i o n , they were not fully Informed of the fact s. The Planner reviewed the reasons for recom- mending against the rezon I Ing, Mr. McGillic-uddy was present and submitted * r sketch showing the layout of the proposed Apartment to be constructed. �.. Bud Feliz spoke in favor of the rezoning stating that it would 'be a source of revenue to the city and the best way to utilize the property. Mr. F"liz also protested that the first pet.itdon favoring the rezoning had not been misrepresented in any part or portion of it. Resolution Z3-62 recommending the rejection of the rezoning was introduced by Com- missioner Lane, seconded by Commi'ssi'oner Gustafson and was passed unani- mously. MRS. -0. Wasik to conduct home for foster children,, part-time. basis located at 1521 East Madison Street, R-1 zone was reviewed. Resolution U19-62 was introduced by Commissioner Stanley and seconded by Commissloner Gibbs and wa-s passed unanimously present, granting.the resolution. STAFF REPORT V The clerk read a letter, from John H. Prather, 'Sonoma County Planning Commission, in which he .notified the Petaluma City Planning Commission of the Use Permi't application filed with the County Planning Commission by Protein Products Incorporated to allow 'a Pet food processing plant south of the Lakeville: Highway in an M-2 Dil[. strict Mr. Byrd was requested to contact the County Pfannj,ng Departmen . t in order to obtain more information ,reg, I arding the operatto.n. The Commission noted - the plant would lie adjacent •, o the proposed access route for the future small craft harbor and that this area Is designated medium density residential on the General Plan Map.
