APPROVAL OF' MINUTES
The minutes for the meeting of July 3., 1962 were approved as submit-
ted.
, FRANK H. CLAXTON PUBLIC HEARING, VARIANCE, FILE NO. VLF. -62
Public hearing was held on the variance application #3417 filed by
Frank H. Claxton to allow a 4 ft. sideyard A.P.. #8 -182 "8 located. at
428 -5th Street. A. staff report was.presented by Mr. Byrd in.which he
mentioned that a 10 ft. drainage easement, exists adjacent to the west
side of the parcel. Should the easement• be abandoned, the property
would be consolidated with the Claxton,parcelQ therefore, the dwelling
actually has a 14 ft, sideyard setback because nog - development is allowed
over an easement. The ,main structure adjacent t:o the easterly property
line has a setback of 12,ft. thereby giving a 16 ft, separation of
e structures. The chairman call-ed for expressions from the floor.. No
- opposition was voiced. Resolution V4-62.,, recommending that the City
Council grant this variance, was introduced by Commissioner Gustafson,
and seconded by Commissioner Stanley and was passed unanimously by all
members pre sen .

Public hearing was held on valiance Application #3408 filed by
Ralph E. nostka a.,o allow an 8 ft.,, front yard & 8 ft,.: rear yard on
A.P. #8- 072 -19 located at 706.English Street. A staff report was pre-
sented by Mr. Byrd in which`he.,recommended that a variance be granted al-
lowing a 10 ft. front yard and 5 ft. rea yard because the parcel has
100 ft. of frontage and only 50 feet of depth. Ralph Kostka.was present
and made no objection to the change,. Resolution V5 -62 recommending to
the City Council that a variance be granted allowing a 10 ft. front yard,
etc., was int- roduced by Commissioner Stanley and seconded by Commissioner
Gustafson & was unanimously approved by all members present.
The following'use.permits were granted to conduct homes for foster
children.

ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business to come before the Commission the
meeting was adjourned. Robert Meyer, City Manager played a recording of
a speech delivered by Edmund McKanna, an industrial realtor from Los An-
geles,, at an Industrial development, conference at. San Mateo in 19590
