APPROVAL OF MINUTES
The minutes for the regular meeting of September 5,, 1962 acid special
meeting of September 11 1962, were approved, as submitted.
PUBLIC HEARING:
Don Taylor, Variance, File No,. V8-,62 Vl
This being the time set- for hearing of protests to the subject variance,
the Planning Director stated that he had received no written protests,
Planning Director. Robert Byrd submitted a written report in which he
recommended that a- variance be granted. allowing a 5' f ront yard for garage and
1.5' front yard for dwelling instead of required 20',
William P. Croxton, 46 La Cresta Drive, said the garage would cause a
dangerous situation and that the roads in that area are narrow and because of
the location, of the garage it wou create a traff ic.hazard,, Mr. Croxton sug-
gested that the driveway be moved farther down the hill,
Eugene H. LaRose, stated that he was in complete agreement with
Bill Croxton,
After further discussion, Resolution No. V8-62-was introduced by Com-
m1s,sioner Gustafson and seconded by Commissioner. Stanley and was unanimously
passed by allmembers, with the follqw condition-,. . 'The driveway approach to
the carport sha be of adequate size to allow � a. turning movement so that i.t will
not be necessary to back on to La Cre,sta from the carport,

Use PermitApplication No. 4029 filed by Barber Sign Company to con-

Mr, Byrd pointed out the location on the map and explained that the sign conforms
to County - standards. Resolution No. U33�62,, granting the use permit, was

introduced by Commissioner Gustafson and seconded by Commissioner Lieb,
=�. and was passed unanimously by all members.
Westerterp Bros., Use Permit, File No. U35 °62
Use Permit Application No. 4151, filed by Westerterp Bros., to allow a
free standing sign located at 82`1 Petaluma Boulevard North. Mr. Byrd explained
that the sign will have to meet the Code requirements.. Resolution U35 -62, grant-
ing the use permit, was introduced by Commissioner. Stanley and seconded by
Commissioner Li.eb, and was passed by the. following vote.
Ayes- Commissioner Lieb,. Stanley and Popp.
Noes- Commissioner Gustafson
Commissioner Gustafson stated he had voted no because he wanted to
teach them to ask for a permit before and not after.,
Joyce Scott, Use Permit, File .No.. U34-62 V
Use Permit Application No. 4042, filed by Joyce-Scott, to conduct home
for foster children, part °time basis located at I.M. McKenzie Drive. Mr. Byrd
explained that the premises had been checked and found safe for intended use.
Resolution No. U36 - 62, granting the use permit,, was introduced by Commissioner
• Stanley and seconded by Commissioner Gustafson and was passed unanimously by
all members.
Mrs. C. Olsen, Use Permit File No; U3.6 -
Use Permit Application No. 4172, filed by Mrs.. C. Olsen, to conduct home
for foster children, part -time basis located at 505 Adrienne Drive, The City
Fire Inspector checked the premises and found same to be suitable for intended
rise, Resolution No. U36-,62, granting the use permit, was introduced by Com°
mssi:oner Stanley and seconded by Commissioner Gustafson and was passed
unanimously by all members.
Use Permit. Applications to County
The Planning Director stated that there were two use permit applications
before the Sonoma County Board of Zoning Adjustments and the Commission would
be expected to give a recommendation, Trans Leasing Corporation, Use Permit
application, mobile home sales, office for trailer park and recreation. hall, 1.812
Petaluma Boulevard North, "Cm3'' and "M "" districts. Also, Hoyt Buford, Use
Permit application, mobile home park, adjoining and north of 433 McDowell Road,
Petaluma,."A" district, The Commission decided to recommend i. n favor of the
two use permits.
'• Mrs Byrd gaffe each Commissioner a booklet entitled, ''1VIro Planning
Commissioner " and requested each Commissioner to read the booklet and perhaps
it could be discussed at some future meeting,
