Special meeting of the Petaluma City Planning Commission held on
August 23 , 1963 .at 7 `.00 oQCiock. p. m. in the Council Chambers., City
Hall, Petaluma, California
PRESENT.- Commissioners Cavanagh, Gatewood, L.ieb, Stanley.
ABSENT.- Commissioner Popp..
STAFF.- Robert E. Byrd. Director of Planning.

Public hearing to consIde:r the use, permit application filed by R. 0.
Shelling to allow additions to anon , -conforming use in e C -S Zone., of
unloading hoppers located at 909 Petaluma Blvd. No,., was he at this
time. The Planning Director presented the staff report. Chairman
Stanley invited anyone .appos the appl ication to speak. 'Mrs. Alva7r
Blair, Mrs. Howard Boom,,Mr. Lee,Natali„ residents In the neighbor-
hood, voiced the..ir protests, objecting mainly about the dust and truck
traffic created by the Industry,. A.ttorne Lounlbus Introduced Mr. Bas-
so (Mr. Shellin0s representative) who informed the Commission that the
proposed addition would reduce the dust problem and speed up -anloading
thus improving the parking problem. In v ew b.f.the fa that the com-
plaints registered were p�^imarily based on the complete operation it-
self rather than •th,e proposed addition., Res. U14 -63, granting the Use
Permit, was introduced:by Comm. LI.eb seconded by Comm. Gatewood and
passed by all members -present subject to conforming to the performance
standards established for the Light Industrial. Zone as established In
2 Ordinance 662 N.G.S. The Planner °s report was made par'' f the
Use Permit and attached thereto.

Zone. located at 3.15 -,-2nd 'S'treet was* reviewed. The Plannert report
stated that the proposed reduction in front and side yard -- sebacks
conform with the amendments presently introduced for adoption by the
City Council. In vied .of . `the report Resoluti V20 - 63 , g ant ing the
variance, was introduced by Comm. Cavanagh•, seconded by Comm. Gatewood
and passed by all members present.
