In the Council Chambers, City Hall, Petaluma:, California. PRESENT. Commissioners Cavanagh, Gatewood, Popp,, Stanley. ABSENT.- Commissioner Lieb STAFF., Robert E. Byrd, Director of Planning APPROVAL OF MINUTES The minut:es• for th of August 20 and 23 were approved as sub- mitted. CORRESPONDENCE The Planner read correspondence received from Livingston & Blayney re- lative to the revisions t`0 Zoning = 'Ordinance 662 that were mai led to them. Mr. Byrd also informed - the Commission that a letter had been sent to Mr. O'Connor and'Horace Hentis regarding violation of the con- ditions listed In their use permits. A letter was also sent to Mr. Sinclair, Assistant State Highway Engineer., requesting a meeting with the State to resolve some of the*problems Involving the proposed Inter- change's shown on Master Plan,, including the Petaluma -Napa Express- way, SOUTHERN SONOMA PR.OPERT;1ES,. INC., PUBLIC HEARING, FILE Z10 -63. Chairman Stanley opened the public hear on the application filed by Southern Sonoma PropeftI,e,s to rezone Parcel No. 6-401-14 (South- i4'&st corner of the Ma ' g, nolia-Cherry Street intersection) from an R-1-6000 zone to an R =2-3000 Zone. in'his staff report the Planner°s recom- mendation against the I re.z.on.ing,, was based on the fact that it would be spot zoning, is In vlolation of the General Plan, It would create traf- fic congestion on a . su-bstandard_s1 and 'Increase the load on public facilities. Larry Parks, applicant, expressed the opinion that in view I , P of the fact that the cemetery Is located across the street and a pro- posed school is to be locate4 on Cherry Street, the area is not es- pecially desirable for single family residence Richard Lieb, owner of property In the area, objected to the rezoning on the grounds that it would be spot zoning and_furthet djsa with Mr. Parks theory regarding the desirab,ili,ty of the location,. Reno V21 -63, denying the application., was introduced by Commissioner Popp, seconded by Commissioner Gatewood and passed by all members present.
