C_ McGi ern, Director 'of, '.Planning APPROVAL OF ;MINUTES = the minutes for the meeting of January 16, 1968 were approved as submitted. GULF' Mr. MCGiver n• advised the Comm ission of a.Sonoma CORP.. County Referral regarding a proposed ;gasoline service station to be located at the southeast . corner of Old Redwood ,Highway and.MeDowell Road, adjacent to the city limits,. The Planning Di- rector proposed ,several, recommendations to be submitted to the Sonoma County Board of Zoning Adjus= tments for their consideration in granting the izse :.permit. (These: ,recommendations are part of the permanent :f=ile of` the Planning Department,.) A motion requesting the, Planning Director to s.ub- mit the recommendations as presented to the ; Sonoma County Board. of Zoning ,A4Ju_stments, was introduced. `b Comm. He :;related his ex- per ,ence at the .Board.of:SupervisorIs meeting in Santa Rosa where he presented several questions rega -rding the Plan but couldn?'t get a satisfactory answer:. At this point, Mr. Joerger said he -was informed that ABAG had nothing to do with the; Regional. Plan The Gounc'i1mal1 `toad the Ga issioners :that .he dis- agree d,with,,.ths because it is ABAG's'money and. also federal grant's which Are financing this "PIA'. Mr,; Joerger also warned the. Commi_ s- sign that the' Plan ,is; a. forerunner of ABAG making'a presentation to the State Legislature :. powers and usurp jurisdiction from city and county government., because a Regional Plan can't 'be of any value unless they have' legis- lative. powers. -Chairman Postmeier` and the P'lannsing Director stressed the importance of forwarding O ' r,eco mmend "a't to ABAG Regional Committee to indicate that Petaluma . is interested and v.itally"concerned. with what they are,doing and voice 'our - recommendations. Comm. Styles commended Mrc'McGivern on his- report, but stated that he was of the opinion that 'Petaluma can take 'care of its own problems and does not need�ABAG.' Comm. Koenitzer stated there ways a read need for a regional plan as it 'relates to rapid transit -, airports, recrea- tional facilities,, etc He further stated, that the seven recommendations listed in Mr. "McGivern's report w'o.uld :not. indicate. a compromise in any way, but wo:u voice Petaluma "..'s opinion of" the plan and needed revisions Mr.". Manuel Amaral was i the audience a nd cautioned the Commission o any action, they.might' take saying that the northern counties did not need the southern. counties.: Comm.. Styles stated at this time that they (the southern counties) need our money and land. Following - further ;review of the recom- mendations outlined in the "report, several modi- f;cations "were made in its wording.. A.moton, that the .recommendations, as revised, be for warded, to the AMP-Regional Committee, was intro- duced by Comrri. Perry, .s;econded by Comm. Koenitzer. and passed by the following vote: AYES.- Koenitzer, Perry, Fostmeier.. NO; Styles :;. ABSENT: Battaglia. Commissioner_ Styles ' stated that he would like 'it made a matter of record that he voted "No" not be- cause he wars unconcerned for the need for a Regionall Plan:.
